As the countdown begins for , our recent webinar, "From Decarbonization to Adaptation: India's Climate Agenda for COP30" highlighted the opportunity it presents for India to re-assert its role as a climate justice champion. This dialogue was a part "Road to COP30: Local Voices, Global Pathways" series, connecting voices from Beijing to Rio on the road to COP30.

Key Takeaways:
* Accountability vs. Action: Sumit Prasad, CEEW reminded us that climate negotiations remain process-oriented, not result-driven, and urged clarity as we look to COP30.

* Finance Front and Center: Avantika Goswami, CSE highlighted that while COP30 lacks one “headline” issue, climate finance, especially for the Global South, will dominate the agenda.

India’s Role: India has strongly spotlighted Article 9.1 of the Paris Agreement, demanding public funds from developed nations—not loans or private debt—as real climate finance.

Voices from the Ground: Ruth DeFries, Columbia Climate School stressed the importance of including marginalized communities, non-state actors, and unheard voices in global climate negotiations.

SDGs as Compass: Health, nutrition, and education remain central to achieving wider sustainability goals and must stay at the heart of climate action.
