Its been a while. We’re very excited to share photos from the almost open to public wine store Les Bouchons at Walkeshwar, Mumbai. The site was like an underground tavern; three small rooms with low ceilings, floors stepping down the walkeshwar hill with tiny windows that sent little shafts of light into the space. There was instant resonance with the idea of the tavern. We tried to re create the imagery of the underbelly, simulated arches and vaults within the rooms, and packed up the lower, larger room with a display of a 1000 wine bottles. All this evolved into a flourish of plywood art deco ornamentation. Its got an amazing collection so if you’re hiking up there do drop by…the toilet has a surprise!
