With deep sorrow we inform the loss of our trustee Mr. Subrata Sarkar. An ardent supporter and a “doer”, this loss is irreplaceable for Prangan. May his soul rest in peace. We can only thank him for the good times and wonderful memories together. Our condolences and sympathies to the family 🙏.

Prangan has lost one of its Trustee Members Mr CK Sengupta on the 24th of February. In his passing away Prangan has lost a sincere and capable friend.

As a mark of respect to the departed soul we are holding a Memorial to reminisce our good days with him. Accordingly a meeting has been arranged for all Prangan Members, their families, students and associates of Prangan on Sunday the 23rd March 2025 at Phoenix Tower B Party Hall at 5 PM.

You are requested to attend the Meeting along with Prangan family.

Over the last 45 years, Prangan has hosted a myriad of musical productions based on the works of Rabindranath Tagore along with eminent personalities from the world of Indian music and culture.

While we are just a week away from hosting one of our biggest shows yet, here is a trip down memory lane with some of our performances over the years.

Today’s picture carousel has memories from Prangan’s 40th anniversary program in Mumbai. Held in 2019, we were honoured by a very special performance from esteemed Indian film actor (Late) Sm. Soumitra Chatterjee, our Guest of Honour. He enthralled the audience with a reading of selective excerpts and we are so fortunate to have collaborated with him before his untimely passing.

————————————————Suchitra Mitra dedicated most of her professional life in exploring and espousing the works of Tagore. She was fascinated by the perfect harmony of melody, lyric and depth of philosophy that she found in the songs of Tagore, more so than in any other form of Bengali music.
However, despite this undeniable fact did you know that her first music record was not a Rabindra Sangeet. What song was it and whose composition?

She also sang four songs of Atul Prasad Sen and that 45 rpm small disc too had become a runaway - do you know which songs these were?

One of these songs will be presented on stage in Prangan’s upcoming tribute programme dedicated to Suchitra Mitra on 14 November - which one?
