A proud milestone for Upstep Academy’s Advaith Eshwar Raj from 🇸🇬 Singapore!

Born in 2019, Advaith became officially FIDE-rated in both Rapid and Blitz in September 2026!

Achieving a first FIDE rating is a special step in any young player’s chess journey — and earning ratings across two formats makes this milestone even more memorable.

THREE YEARS. THREE GOLDS. A CHAMPIONSHIP HAT-TRICK! 🏆

Upstep Academy’s Nirvaan Shah has done it again! Huge congratulations to the 12-year-old for winning GOLD at the ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2026—completing an incredible hat-trick of titles at the event!

Nirvaan’s remarkable ISSO run began with the U11 Gold in 2024. He stepped up to the U14 category in 2025 and won Gold again. And now, in 2026, he has successfully defended his U14 crown to make it three consecutive ISSO National Games titles!

This year’s triumph was particularly impressive. Starting as the 5th seed, Nirvaan rose above his seeding and defeated both the 3rd and 4th seeded players along the way. He stormed through the first six rounds to reach 6/6, putting himself in a commanding position heading into the final round.

With the championship on the line, Nirvaan secured a draw in the last round to finish on 6.5/7 and emerge as champion on a superior tiebreak score!

And this hat-trick adds yet another title to an already impressive list of achievements. Nirvaan is a 4-time MSSA Champion (2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025), the 2026 Maharashtra State Amateur Champion, and the 2025 U11 Maharashtra State Champion.

Four consecutive MSSA titles. Three consecutive ISSO titles. And now another Gold to celebrate!

A special milestone for Upstep Academy’s Navdeep Narsagalla, who has achieved his first FIDE Rapid Rating of 1503 at just 10 years old!

Hailing from Australia, Navdeep has been training with Upstep Academy for the past few months, and it’s wonderful to see him reach this important milestone in his chess journey.

Getting that first FIDE rating is a memorable moment for any young chess player. For Navdeep, a 1503 Rapid rating marks his entry into the FIDE-rated world and gives him an exciting foundation to build on as he continues learning, competing, and improving.

Two Commonwealth bronze medals. A love for learning. And the determination to never lose hope.

Meet Ishaan from India — a young chess player whose journey has already taken him to the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Sri Lanka, where he brought home two bronze medals.

For Ishaan, every class is a chance to learn something new, with a coach who encourages him to keep going, keep improving, and never lose hope.
