What a fabulous Reunion!

Just to reiterate the Walsingham Alumni Charity Trust was created to help retired teachers with medical help. Many years ago a couple of us were asked to help with some medical help for teachers who had retired and we could help them. This year too we could give a retired teacher with some help. That is the trust’s main purpose and is registered with the charity commissioner. The trustees are myself, Brinda Khatau, Shirin Viviana, Rupa Chinai and Madhushree Birla. We were captains, vice captain , headgirl or games captain in the class of 1971.

This years grand Reunion was also sponsored by the Piramal group with a lot of help from the NCPA and other members of the class of 1971 and committee members.

No funds of the charity trust go towards the Reunion nor do they go to the school.

The trust has one single minded agenda to give back in some way to our Gurus what priceless gift they have given us - that of knowledge. At the back of your mementoes is the address of the charity trust. Do give generously any amount small or large for this cause.

Thanks are due to the NPCA and Brinda Khatau, Madhushree Birla’s photographic exhibition whose proceeds go the alumni trust , Falguni Kharwa who did photography pro bono and Alka vora for the hoardings which she did for us free as well.

Thanks also to Vishal Asrani Institute of performing arts who put together an amazing crew of singers and dancers. Thanks to Sasha Zaveri, Cormac Lynch, Lynne Warner, and the Beatles band for the skits! Thanks to the event team , sound and lights , video creation , digital and AI studio and staff at NCPA for the coordinated effort .last but not least the exquisite artisan Bon Bons were all painstakingly made in my home . Hope you enjoyed them !

We need to connect re the Grand reunion on Feb 8 th 2024 and the WHS song contest.

Excitement is the air. Our school will celebrate 85 years with a Walsingham House School Grand
Reunion on 8th February 2024 at 6.00 pm in Mumbai. A Musical is being staged at the NCPA Tata
Theatre - it is called the Swinging Sixties! It traces the magical journey of a class of Walsingham
School in the Sixties. The Sixties was a time of Flower Power, Peace and amazing Music which
included the Beatles, Elvis, Abba, Boney M, whose music we still hear today, decades later, these
classics are evergreen. The musical will include singers from tribute shows as well as children
currently studying in the school. The Musical Play is just an example of the journey of one class but
it’s relevant to every class as the story is about the beauty, the friendships, and the dreams we all
had in school.

Do try and sit with your classmates if possible and bring your families too! If you have passed out
recently book a ticket for your teacher currently teaching in the school. It will be a fun filled
musical carnival.

The WHS SONG Contest
In addition, there will be The WHS song contest for the best song from each class. The three
best songs will be performed on the final day 8th of February. So, get set and be prepared to
participate as a class.

Walsingham House School Alumni Charity Trust
As you know we had set up an alumni fund to help the school in various cultural activities as well
as have funds for medical assistance to retired teachers. We have helped some of the teachers
this year already.

Rules for the WHS Song contest
Head girls/ House captains or Prefects of a class will coordinate with participants to present a song
for your class. It shouldn’t be longer than 4 minutes. Participants must be alumni of school or been
through WHS for at least a year. Accompanying musicians need not be alumni of the school e.g.,
pianist or tabla player etc. The song can be in any language and of any genre. The three best songs
will be performed on the final day - 8th of February. The semifinal will be around mid-January at
Piramal Towers – where we had our last Reunion. What a rollicking time we had! There will be a five-
member jury this time to choose the best song.

The Grand Reunion- Get the word Out
How can you contribute? Get the word out for the Grand Reunion! Urge alumni’s all over the world
to come back to Mumbai for this event. Arrange small meals before or after the Grand Reunion.
Connect with your classmates and reenergize and soak yourself in nostalgia.

Alumni can donate a gift hamper either individually or as a class for the Lucky Dip at the Grand
Reunion. Gift hampers will be collected in mid-January at the musical semifinal. If your companies
are involved in an activity, it will be nice to donate a hamper and let others know about it, particularly
your school mates!

Our special project on Mumbai spanning the entire academic year across all disciplines exposes our children to important aspects of our city. The learning is experiential and is integrated into their curriculum allowing the children to truly absorb both the study material and the spirit of the city.

An unbelievable talk by a dabbawalla for grades 1-4 for our Mumbai Project.

We regret to announce that Mrs Fernandez (F***y) died a few days ago in Australia at age 91. The information was sent by an alumnus. Those who temember her please pen down your memories or photographs so that we may always remember her with affection. One of the strongest memories of her that i have is her phrase "be like a bouncing ball-bounce back against failures and difficulties." Her words have always stayed with me. On behalf of the
WHS Alumni Association we will give our deepest condolences to her family.
