KASHISH Forward – India’s first travelling campus LGBTQ film festival – film screenings and discussions held at campuses across India.
KASHISH Forward – India’s first travelling campus LGBTQ film festival – is a series of film screenings and discussions that are held at campuses across India, aiming to reach out and create awareness about LGBTQ (le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r) issues through the medium of cinema. The objective is to create an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance for LGBTQ students on campus who
maybe grappling with issues of coming out, in challenging environments due to a society that is still largely unaccepting of LGBTQ persons. This initiative also enables friends, peers, faculty members and campus advisors to have a greater awareness of LGBTQ lives in India and around the world, so that a discussion around LGBTQ issues can be kick-started to create q***r friendly campus that is sensitive to issues of gender and sexual orientation. KASHISH Forward is a customized 1½ - 2 hour programme of short films and discussion that focuses on youth related issues such as discrimination, homophobia, bullying, coming out, growing up, acceptance by family, etc. The films are chosen with sensitivity and care keeping in mind sensibilities of the youth and also faculty members. The program consists of both Indian and international short films that are cheerful, dramatic and thought-provoking so as to engage and entertain youth audiences. Colleges in which KASHISH Forward has already been held:
