To become cash positive by end of financial year march 2021, Tata Steel plans to scrap up to 3000 jobs in Europe. According to company representatives, Tata needs urgent performance improvement by increasing sales of higher value products, efficiency gains for which reducing employment is the key factor.

Signal Private Messenger to overthrow WhatsApp?!
It's been almost a week since WhatsApp filed a lawsuit against Israeli hacking tool developer, the NSO Group. With the allegations stating that NSO Group built and sold a hacking platform that exploited a flaw in WhatsApp-owned servers to help clients hack into the cellphones of at least 1,400 user. A week on an app that had been languishing at 105th in social networking app downloads category in India on the iOS app store, and at the 255th position in communications app downloads category in India on Google Play Store made a huge jump to 39th and 31st position respectively. Apps like Signal Private Messenger and Telegram are protected by more complex systems and possess better features like cloud storage, self-destruct messages etc. So what's stopping them from overtaking WhatsApp, the answer to thay would be WhatsApp's willingness to add features that improve customer experience, even if a competitor introduced such feature in the market, also WhatsApp has gained such a level of popularity that people tend to use other Messengers in tandem to WhatsApp. However, unless WhatsApp doesn't do something about the biggest issues it faces, i.e. spamming and unverified messages, the likelihood that it'll be overtaken eventually will only grow. currently though it's still the go-to text messaging app.

Flipkart plans to start video-streaming to take on Amazon Prime.
India's largest e retailer Flipkart to join the league of companies offering online video streaming. The service is likely to be launched ahead of the Diwali festive season and will be offered free to members of the Flipkart Plus loyalty programme, which provides faster shipping and exclusive deals. But unlike Amazon, the Indian e-tailer won’t initially produce originals. It would license content from the likes of Walt Disney and Balaji Telefilms. The move will help Flipkart level the playing field with Amazon, which has doubled down on its entertainment offerings. India’s $500 million video-streaming market is estimated to grow 10-fold by 2023.

TikTok Vs Facebook
India is emerging as a key battleground for TikTok, Facebook in race to get to young users.
Citing Sensor Tower data, Economic Times reports the Chinese app, TikTok India garnered nearly 89 million downloads in India in the first quarter of 2019, significantly higher than Facebook’s 37 million. That took TikTok’s India user base to 200 million, which is two-thirds of Facebook’s. To be sure, Facebook remains the platform of choice for advertisers given its engagement and extensive desktop presence. But experts feel the Menlo Park-headquartered social network needs to lure young, first-time internet users in India given the China market is off-limits for it.

The often unsung heroes, who shape our lives by performing the simple act of going through the mundane, day and night. A million sacrifices, some acknowledged and others unacknowledged, we owe our lives to them. When we look back on life, they have always been there, through our success and failures, with a comforting hug or a nodding pat. Not just today, but every day is their day, because they deserve more. A toast to all the mother's out there.
Happy Mother's Day!
