The independent film and video pioneer, who taught at UCLA from 1975 to 1983, was born on this day in 1919. The Archive preserved her provocative first feature, “The Connection” (1961), the Academy Award-winning “Robert Frost: A Lover’s Quarrel with the World” (1963), and her final film, “Ornette: Made in America” (1985).
