On Wednesday, 17th September 2025, BSG-IJA held a special session featuring a delightful demonstration by Ms. Poonam Saxena, who created a beautiful Saikei landscape with Casuarina. Using mature, well-trained trees arranged in a round pot with strategically placed slate rocks, she showcased how planning and artistry come together in Saikei design.
During her demonstration, Poonam shared valuable insights on the care and maintenance of Casuarina species, covering aspects such as soil requirements, watering techniques, and finer points of upkeep. With thoughtful preparation and skill, she guided members through the process of designing a harmonious and naturalistic Saikei.
Dr. Sweedle Shivkar, a noted botanist, provided additional information on the Casuarina species, enhancing the members’ understanding of its unique characteristics. It was a truly enriching and inspiring experience for all present, combining practical artistry with botanical knowledge—a session to be remembered.
