Play Therapy
About the course:
This course offers training in Child counselling using the technique of “Play Therapy”. It can help children in the age group of - 3 to 10 years and sometimes may be extended to 12 yrs.
Common symptoms inviting counselling intervention:
♦ Aggressive behaviours - Biting, Hitting, Spitting, Throwing, Disobedience, Tearing, Breaking things
♦ Irregular & undesirable habits related to – Eating, Elimination, Toilet training, Talking, Not mixing with others, non-cooperation, Shyness, Distracting behaviour, Stubbornness, Lying....
♦ Problems with school work- Lack of concentration, Constant talking, Non-responsive, Failing, Cheating, Stealing, Fighting, Lack of interest in studies, Constant demands, Clinging to parents.....
Course Structure:
First Stage:
Theory- (All lectures are Audio-visually supported.)
♦ Emotional needs of children
♦ Effect of deprivation and neglect on the child’s development
♦ Principles of Play Therapy
♦ Art as a medium of expression and intervention.
♦ Required play room arrangement
♦ Material required for technique
♦ Qualities required in a good counsellor
Duration:
About 3 months (Twice a week- 1½ hr. Class)
Second stage:
Practical training-
♦ Every student will be working with two children in need of counselling intervention.
♦ Students can work with children at an organization, at a school, or at home.
♦ Institute will help the candidates to find placement for practical training.
♦ They will learn application of theory and use Play Therapy intervention technique.
Duration:
About 8-10 weeks
Timings For Theory classes:
11.30 to 1 (mornings- Tue. & Thrs.) OR 3.30 to 5.00 p.m. (Afternoons- Wed. & Fri.) OR Saturdays (3 .30 to 5.00 p.m.)
Total Duration:
6 Months
For Practical work:
Individual timings may be arranged by the counsellor
Fees: Rs.30,000/-+Rs.500/- (Registration Fees)
