Icons of Chile!

I had the pleasure of meeting Felipe Meneses Diaz & Fernando Alvarez Brancoli from the Chile’s leading wine producer at the lovely restaurant in BKC

The intimate was hosted by who had recently visited Chile. She regaled us with the fascinating stories and discoveries of Chilean wine making and specifically about Leyda and San Pedro that have over 160 years of heritage and a presence in more than 90 countries worldwide

VSPT owns a whopping 5120 hectares of vineyards across Chile’s most prestigious wine valleys: Leyda, Maipo, Casablanca, Colchagua & Cachapoal Andes

This combined with sustainability, heritage, innovation & global reach positions their premium portfolio as the #1 wine company from South America

is currently the importer of Vina San Pedro 1865 from Maipo but they are also looking to enter the Indian market particularly for the historical Leyda valley and the premium range of San Pedro from Cachapoal valley

The pioneers of the Indian single malt movement have launched and unveiled yet another fantastic edition.

With 49 single malts under its belt already this one is dedicated to our favorite maximum city of dreams that never sleeps.

“Mumbai Chi Maaya”, a limited edition expression is a tribute to the restless spirit of Mumbai.

Bottled at 48%abv, a rarity here, the whisky is bold and intense. The packaging is stunning with iconic Mumbai vistas and a salute to the quieter rituals and spirit of this bewitching and beloved city.

The whisky has been finished in 3 different casks and priced at Rs 12,500/- in Maharashtra.

We also got to taste their crown jewel, Amrut Fusion. This award winning dram catapulted Indian whisky into the international spotlight in 2009. Since then Amrut has won 200+ awards

The legend behind the luscious & single malts, Dr. Bill Lumsden visited India after 12 years and what an outstanding welcome he received from all his fans at a curated whisky tasting held at .in Mumbai

Dr Bill , a visionary regaled us with stories from his vast 40 years of experience of experimenting with whisky making.

His charm and sense of humor kept the crowds engaged to his every word. Few accents stir as much affection as the Scottish accent.

The 4 tasting drams were -

The two classic Glenmorangie 12 YO Original & 18 YO Infinita were outstanding. Rich with yummy orange citrus notes.

The dreamy Signet, also made in the same distillery - which has the tallest giraffe 🦒 sized high pot stills in all of Scotland was a gorgeous dram.

Dr Bill a self professed tea drinking man got the idea of creating Signet when he was enjoying a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The result? Bursts of bitter mocha, sizzling spice and waves of dark chocolate, mellowed by smooth butterscotch.

And Finally, once you have tasted the Ardbeg 10 YO there’s no turning back!

A phenomenal dram packing powerful peaty deliciousness is a favourite of many whisky lovers around the world.

This single malt is a winner of 13 spirit awards. Long and glorious with sea salted caramel and beach bonfire smoke. A clear winner

(It brought back beautiful nostalgic memories of my visit to the wee coastal Islay distillery back in 2019)

Also present was Mr Siddharth Suri the new ( one month old!) Managing Director of Moët Hennessy India

All in all a memorable evening.

Enjoyed a sumptuous and finger licking good Odisha cuisine Sunday brunch curated by my dear talented and gorgeous friend at .mumbai

Odia cuisine, from the Indian state of Odisha (formerly Orissa), is renowned for its simplicity, subtle flavors, and minimal use of oil and spices.

While often compared to Bengali cuisine due to geographical proximity, Odia food has distinct characteristics and a unique culinary heritage, deeply influenced by its temple traditions, particularly from the Jagannath Temple in Puri.

HYLO Kala Ghoda is a restaurant and bar located in Fort, South Mumbai, right opposite the famous Kala Ghoda statue. The name “HyLo” stands for “Hyper Local,” and the establishment focuses on showcasing regional Indian flavors with a modern twist.

The festival is on till the 31st of July. Don’t miss it!
