Potential children for this project have been identified from BMC and aided schools. Bhavan’s, through SPJIMR, is making an attempt to play the role of a catalyst by supporting the children so that they are able to realize their full potential. This project, spanning around 8 to 9 years, provides a comprehensive learning platform for the Sitaras through the involvement of Bhavan’s institutions lik

Sunday morning lessons are conducted for Sitaras in the clean and spacious premises of the Wadia school in our campus. Classes begin at 7 am, with yoga. Our volunteers wait to keep an eye on any late-comers :) Here is one boy whose steps quickened when he spotted the Abhyudaya team member waiting! :) :)

This is the Abhyudaya ADMAP team, with Prof Deepa Krishnan and Prof Tulsi Jayakumar. The ADMAP team is made up of PGDM-1 students and helps to manage the implementation of the mentoring programme for Sitaras. Through managing year-long Abhyudaya events, PGDM students learn team working, interpersonal skills, time management, etc.

At SPJIMR, students go through a structured course called ADMAP (Assessment & Development of Managerial & Administrative Potential). Guided by professors, there are 21 ADMAP teams which handle different aspects of the institute's functioning.

The Abhyudaya ADMAP team meets once a week to discuss the activities planned for the month. This week the meeting was extra special because we went out to a team lunch at Barbecue Nation :-)

This Sunday we had a counselling session for Std 10 Sitaras and their parents. The board exams are approaching and our Sitaras need to start seriously preparing. They are also a little worried and stressed. Their parents often don't know how to support the children in this process, as many are not literate. In fact, most parents don't understand any of the subjects of the Std 10 syllabus.

So we organised this counselling session. For students, we explained how to make a study plan, what to focus on, how to identify their own strengths and weaknesses, etc. For parents, we explained how they can be of help during the process, even if they don't know the subjects: what sort of atmosphere they should create in the house, how they support and bolster the student's efforts. After the group talk, we also did one-on-one sessions.

Here's wishing all our Std 10 Sitaras a great year ahead.
