Let’s Talk Dementia: Awareness, Care, and Compassion🧠
As part of Dementia Awareness Month, we are organising a special session on 30th September with and TRUST to deepen understanding, break myths, and build empathy around dementia.

We are honoured to welcome our esteemed speakers:

It was an absolute pleasure to host Ms Chetana Iyer and Ms Juhi Jain, who inducted our talk series, where we explore career opportunities and current realities in the field of health. Chetana and Juhi shared their thoughts on the importance of work ethic, the indispensability of documentation and how learning and adapting to the field is a continuous process. Learnings from the session will guide us as we navigate pathways in health and mental health!

Meet Arpita Arun, a dedicated social worker currently serving as a project staff/ research assistant with the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF). She is actively involved in the JAMS Project (Juveniles Accessing Mental Health Services), vital in enhancing access to mental health services for children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across Tamil Nadu.

Sreepriya represents an evolving model of mental health professional practice aimed at creating sustainable impact. With an M.A in Social work with Mental Health specialisation from Tata Institute of social sciences and an MPhil in psychiatric social work from NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) and experience in research positions with NGOs, she eventually established her own organization. Meet Dilip Gaonkar — a TISS alumnus and committed mental health advocate with over 16 years of experience in community mental health and de-addiction. From his early days as a grassroots worker with Sangath to now leading impactful programs at Parivartan Trust across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Dilip has dedicated his career to bringing mental health care to those who need it most. His work focuses on training community support workers, reducing stigma, and building inclusive systems of care in underserved regions. True transformation starts within communities — and Dilip’s journey is a testament to that.”
