Mumbai’s mangroves have just found a host of young ambassadors who arrived on the scene with researched scientific pilots to tackle the crisis that this fragile ecosystem faces.
Middle schoolers across Mumbai animatedly presented their working models at MuSo SPARK the Festival of Innivation at the Museum of Solutions Mumbai.
7 schools under The Mangrove Life project led by Pikiji Learning Australia and The Pomegranate Workshop Mumbai, supported by The Australian Consulate General Mumbai, showcased filtration systems, working models of river cleanups and even sensor based alerts of photographs of mangroves to foreground community action! Each pilot showed promise of scalability and wowed museum visitors at the pilot stations. Leading Education NGOs - Teach for India, Muktangan, iTeach, Akanksha, Udaan India Foundation and Sampoorna Shiksha alongwith Fazlani L’academie Globale were part of this first of its kind student innovation to conserve the city’s fragile mangrove ecosystem.
