Ambedkar Jayanti, also known as Bhim Jayanti, is an annual festival commemorating B. R. Ambedkar, an Indian polymath and civil rights leader, on April 14th. It is the birthday of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was born on April 14, 1891. It has been celebrated as an official public holiday in India since 2015. Ambedkar Jayanti is observed not only in India but around the world.

Since Ambedkar fought for equality throughout his life, his birthday is observed as "Equality Day" in India, and a petition to the United Nations to recognize this day as "International Equality Day" has been submitted.

This Ambedkar Jayanti, may the spirit of self-confidence and fight against oppression continue to stay with us. Happy Ambedkar Jayanti!!

Michael Sivak of the University of Michigan’s Transportation Institute studied fuel economy in cars versus airplanes. He discovered that most cars use twice the energy needed to fly unless the car averages over around 45 miles per gallon (MPG). For example, the Boeing 747 averages about 0.2 MPG, while the average car only receives about 25 MPG. When the number of passengers are included in figures to determine MPG, planes actually get 100 MPG per person.
