At The Humming Roots, our approach to teaching is holistic and individualistic. When we thought of the name ‘The Humming Roots’, it reverberated deep within.

Here, we don’t believe in enforcing anything on students but to nurture their love for the creative vocation that they wish to pursue. The first step towards singing a musical note or a tone is through humming the ‘Root Swar’. The word ‘humming’ came from ‘hummingbird’ - the smallest migrating bird - that makes a humming sound with its wings as they beat so fast. The hummingbird symbolizes playful

Today we will talk about a trumpet-like musical instrument and its legacy that has been passed down through generations, but only orally and strictly private behind the closed doors of Tibetan Temples.☸️

It is widely used in Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies and often played in pairs.

Its sound was once described by an American author as, "a long, deep, whirring, haunting wail that takes you out somewhere beyond the highest Himalaya peaks and at the same time back into your mother's womb".😮

Did you identify it? The instrument is known as Dungchen!

Since the lessons from the Dungchen masters are strictly private to their community, we won't be able to provide you any classes on it.😁 Instead, we can offer you personalized sessions for Violin, Keyboard, and Guitar!

We also provide one-on-one classes for the following disciplines:
🔰 Vocal ( Hindustani, Carnatic and Western)
🔰 Instrumental (Keyboard/Piano, Guitar, Violin, Flute, Drums, and Tabla)

Trick of doing Sargam and Aakar Together | Palta Challenge | Online Music School | The Humming Roots 22/09/2021

Watch the video as we practice Sargam and Aakar together in a fun and creative way. 😊🙏

A Sargam is composed of the seven fundamental notes of Hindustani Classical Music, whereas Aakar is vocal improvisation using the long vowel 'a'. It's critical to practice both at the same time if you want to improve your command of voice and your ability to perform classical music.

Taking baby steps, we first practiced both Sargam and Aakar separately. But for the advanced stage, and as you’ll see in this video, it gets more difficult when we break each step down into smaller chunks and challenge ourselves to complete the same step in both Sargam and Aakar and also switch methods!
