Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Rajmudra was his official stamp/coin. It was given to him by his father, Shahaji. It was used by Shivaji to stamp on all official letters, documents, orders etc. It has come to become the symbol of Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals of a Swarajya, ruled by and for the people.

It has a beautiful quote on it, in Sanskrit: “प्रतिपच्चंद्रलेखेव वर्धिष्णुर्विश्ववंदिता शाहसुनोः शिवस्यैषा मुद्रा भद्राय राजते।” which translates to The glory of this Mudra of Shahaji’s son Shivaji (Maharaj ) will grow like the new moon. It will be worshipped by the world & it will shine only for well being of people.
