School dropout rate among adolescent girls in India is as high as 63.5%. Girls make two-third of illiterates in age group 15 to 24 years. Swami Vivekanand once said, “Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire”. With this thought in mind the Student Social Responsibility committee of SIMSREE has decided to contribute to the cause of girl child education. Cycling is a great medium to bring people together and convey this message. The cycling marathon aims to create awareness about girl child education through participation of corporates, students and NGOs in the marathon and an interactive session with the NGOs post the marathon. It also aims to raise funds and support the cause of girl child education through the event.
