Before claiming GST ITC, check these 3 things first!
One small mistake can lead to GST notices, reversal of ITC & penalties.
1. Supplier has filed GSTR-1
Your purchase invoice should reflect in GSTR-2B.
No reflection = ITC risk.
2. Supplier has paid GST to Government
If the supplier defaults in tax payment, department may question your ITC claim.
Always deal with compliant vendors.
3. You have proper Tax Invoice & proof of receipt of goods/services
Invoice alone is not enough.
Keep delivery challans, E-way bill, transport proof, agreements, etc.
Bonus Tips:
Reconcile GSTR-2B every month
Avoid fake/bogus vendors offering extra ITC
Check GST registration status of vendors regularly
Make payment to supplier within 180 days to avoid ITC reversal
⚠️ GST notices usually come because businesses ignore these basic checks.
