A lot of the changes parents notice after a few sessions are not loud or dramatic.
They show up quietly in everyday life.
In the questions children begin asking.
In what starts catching their attention.
In the way they move through familiar spaces.
In how comfortable they become with observation, curiosity, uncertainty, and exploration.
At Roots Forest School, we don’t rush children from one activity or outcome to the next. A large part of the learning comes from giving them enough time outdoors to stay with an idea, follow their curiosity, and notice more than they initially did.
If this resonates with you, we’d love to share more about our upcoming capsules and workshops🌿

Some of the best teachers have eight legs and spin their homes from scratch.
Join us in the forest this May for Super Spiders, a gentle, wonder-filled morning for young children and their grown-ups to slow down, look closer, and fall a little more in love with the natural world.
Children learn through real, unhurried time outdoors, observing, asking questions, using their senses, and making sense of things at their own pace. Parents get to be part of that discovery, right alongside them.
Together, we’ll explore the world of spiders, their webs, their habits, their quiet but important place in the forest.

We move through the same streets every day, often without really noticing what grows around us.
The trees outside our homes, along our roads, in the corners of familiar spaces slowly become part of the background.
This workshop is an invitation to pause and look more closely.
Through guided exploration, children and parents spend time learning how to recognise neighbourhood trees, observe their patterns and features, and understand the role they play within the ecosystem of the city around us.
Because familiarity changes the way we relate to a place.
And when children grow up recognising the living world around them, they begin to move through it differently.
