Continuing our informal huddles in our home city, we recently had the 2nd edition of the WiT Tea Huddle Mumbai!

🤔This time, pondering over the question, "What's the emerging future of the social sector?" along with some yummy food suggestions across Mumbai!😋

The conversation opened with sharing the trends we are observing around us and what we speculate to be shifts in the sector.

We are having *Ramesh Padmanabhan* jamming on *"How to prepare for a culture crossover from corporate to social sector?"* with *Abhishek Thakore*.🤝🏾

Ramesh is currently the *CEO at ARMMAN*, a non-profit organisation *working in maternal and child health*. He *was CTO at Piramal Foundation* prior to joining ARMMAN in June 2019. Ramesh was the *CEO of NSEIT*, a technology subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), for seven years *between 2008 and 2015*.

The conversation will delve into how can someone *transitioning from the corporate sector to the social sector* prepare themselves for the *change in culture*. At the same time, what *conditions and environment can organisations have* in place to support the transition.

Ramesh has done his post-graduation in software technology from the National Center for Software Technology, Mumbai. He was one of the first few employees at MphasiS, a technology services organisation which he joined in 1999 and held positions of Chief Delivery Officer and Chief Operating Officer. His earlier stints have been with reputed technology companies such as IBM, Kanbay and Tata Unisys.

is the Founder and Chief Mentor at Youth for Seva (), a dynamic forum dedicated to empowering youth as selfless change agents in society. With a passion for social impact, he also serves as a mentor to notable NGOs such as GoPals, Sevakart, ArtNirbharBharat and Prakarsha Academy. Furthermore, he is on the advisory board of Sewa International, USA.

The conversation will explore leveraging organisation culture for engaging volunteers at scale. It will delve into the good practices and need of setting nourishing culture for cultivating volunteers.

After completing his B.Tech in Computer Science in 1990, he spent 15 years in the IT industry, gaining extensive experience in India and the USA. During his time in the USA, he actively engaged with various voluntary organizations, including Sewa International, India Development & Relief Fund, and Balagokulam. Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to making a difference, he dedicated two years to volunteer full-time in West Indies (Trinidad and Guyana), focusing on addressing the issue of teenage suicides among Indian-origin youth. However, his passion for social service led him to establish YFS in April 2007, providing a transformative platform for youth to contribute to their communities.

We facilitated a 3 day retreat for the senior leadership team of in the last week.

The the offsite was meant to create an institutional strengthening framework for the organisation.

"The facilitation of the wisdom tree has helped our organisation to self analyse our own strength and create the path for way forward. The participatory tools and process on organisational culture, sensing the whole and nurturing the whole were really helpeful in instigating the process of thinking", shares a participant.

Glimpse from a warm Mumbai evening! It's both the weather and the people here ;)


WiT-Tea huddles are informal spaces for emergent meaningful conversations. It's an intimate space with a small group to share, connect and learn from each other beyond usual agendas.


After 4 fulfilling huddles in Bangalore this was our first in Mumbai. Yes, finally!
