On modern commercial passenger jet aircraft each engine and the Auxiliary power unit has a dedicated Engine fire warning switch which illuminates on sensing overheat/fire. When activated, the contents of the extinguisher bottle are discharged into engine core which shuts down the engine. It also shuts down the fuel and hydraulic supply of the associated engine.

A throttle lever, more often referred to as a thrust lever or power lever, is the means by which the pilot controls the amount of fuel provided to the engine with which it is associated and which in turn controls the amount of thrust delivered by the associated engine.
