Know Your Zing Challenge 03/10/2022

Over the last several months, Storm Chasers have been Partnering with and Empowering Parents of children from Various age groups though our Unique and Empowering Program – Know Your Zing.

When we talk to parents around us and clients and find that most of us are dealing with the similar issues, and we start taking these issues for granted – we start accepting them as normal, as things that are bound to happen, as the ways of the world. We accept them as is and move on, but that doesn’t help anyone instead encourages wrong practices.
The Most common issues faced by parents can be found in the list below –
• Eating Habits

Confidence is about a child’s trust and faith in her or his abilities. Parents play an incumbent role in nurturing self-confidence. Consistent mirroring of the child’s good qualities can sow the early seeds of confidence. How do you extend your trust in your child transforms into the trust that they imbibe in themselves, making presumptions and prejudices. About their behavior can lead to the development of a fragile self-belief, causing the child to look for validation externally. This can breed feelings of insecurity, especially since external feedback can be inconsistent.
During teen years and early adulthood, the ability to form meaningful relationships, physical appearances and sense of identity, contribute towards building of self-confidence. This is reflected in an adolescence, self-belief and future goals. Adolescents seek independence in their actions and choices. Parents who give adequate space, allowing their adults, adolescents. To make their own choices, have a collaborative process. In place, and provide support through the challenges they face, have children who are resilient.
Cultivate the right approach.
As parents, we oscillate between knowing what’s best for our child and protecting them from failures that may come their way, and believing that it is important for them to learn through their own failures, negotiating the difficult world out there. The fact is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach that is applicable, and we need to know how to protect or expose our adolescent to a challenge. For some adolescents, multiple failures can lead to a cycle of self-defeating thoughts. Similarly, children of overprotective parents can lack self-belief and find it difficult to manage themselves in adverse situations.
