Festive season has officially arrived.
And apparently, so has the annual national competition called:
“How much can I save by spending ₹2 lakh?” 😄
There is a strange magic to festive sales. A ₹20,000 discount can make a ₹1.2 lakh purchase feel like a financial achievement.
Until the credit card bill arrives.
The real problem isn't spending. It is spending without asking what the money was supposed to do instead.
Breaking an FD. Pausing a SIP. Stretching a car loan to make the EMI look comfortable. Or buying something simply because the website says, “Only 2 left!”
Your bank balance doesn't know it's Diwali.
Your financial goals definitely don't care that the sale ends tonight.
So before you click “Buy Now”, try a few simple tests:
⏳ Give an impulse purchase 72 hours.
💰 Ask what the money could become if invested instead.
🚗 Choose the vehicle budget before choosing the EMI.
🎯 Spend from surplus, not from money already assigned to a goal.
And remember:
A discount is not a saving if you didn't need the product in the first place.
This festive season, enjoy the shopping.
Just don't let your future self pay for today's excitement.
Because the best festive offer is still:
“No-cost EMI on financial regret.” 😉
