What are Helping Verbs?

Helping verbs, also known as auxiliary verbs, are verbs that are used with main verbs to form different tenses, moods, and voices. They do not have a meaning of their own, but they help to express the meaning of the main verb.

Some examples of Advanced vocabulary :

Aberration: A departure from what is normal or expected.
Ex. His erratic behavior was an aberration from his usual calm demeanor.

Abhor: To hate or detest something intensely.
Ex : She abhorred violence and always sought peaceful solutions.

Alacrity: Cheerful willingness or promptness.
Ex : She greeted her guests with alacrity, eager to show them her hospitality.

Intermediate vocabulary are used more often than highly specialized Tier 3 words, but less frequent than the ubiquitous Tier 1 basics.

These words are often "versatile," carrying multiple related meanings that add nuance and richness to your communication.

Your writing and speaking will be more articulate, persuasive, and expressive.

Using varied and interesting vocabulary makes you sound knowledgeable and self-assured.

Basic vocabulary includes easy words which we use everyday in our conversations.

It can include common nouns like clock, chair, house, tree, bottle etc.
Verbs like walk, run, swim, dance, eat etc.
Adjectives like sad, happy, angry, beautiful, smart etc.

Intermediate vocab which is a bit more complex than the basic.
And Advanced vocab words are sophisticated words used in formal settings.

Personification.

The fourth figure of speech we will learn today is Hyperbole.

Definition:
A figure of speech in which an author or speaker purposely and obviously exaggerates to an extreme.

Examples:

My feet are killing me.
That plane ride took forever.
I have told you this a 1000 times.
I walked a million miles to get here.
Its raining cats and dogs.

The 3rd figure of speech, we will discuss today is, Metaphor.

Unlike a simile, which uses "like" or "as" for comparison, a metaphor directly states that one thing is another.

Ex : 1. The world is a stage.

Here, the metaphor implies that life is like a stage, and people play different roles or characters throughout their lives.

2. Her laughter is music to my ears.

This metaphor suggests that the sound of her laughter is so enjoyable that it is compared to the beauty of music.

3. The classroom was a zoo.

This metaphor humorously implies that the classroom was chaotic or disorderly, as if it were a literal zoo with wild animals.

The second Figure of speech we will discuss today is Alliteration.

Alliteration is a figure of speech in which the same sound repeats in a group of words or repetitions of an initial consonant sound.

Following are few examples :-

The gentle giant jumped with Jay.
She happily helped the homeless.
A paper plane passed over my head.
Even elephants enjoy eating eggs everyday.

Examples
As slow as a sloth.
As fast as a cheetah.
You are as brave as a lion.
