In an era (the 1960's), when women weren't bestowed with the privileges that we contemporary women are blessed with - A woman who hailed from a small town of Puttur in Mangalore; had the courage to take a plunge in the field of Entrepreneurship.
Born into a Traditional Hindu Temple family Brahmin family, she was introduced to Sanskrit Shloka's from a very young age and was raised with a traditional belief system.
However, she shattered the stereotype of her era and married the love of her Life and relocated to the "City of Dreams" - Mumbai.
In Bombay (as it was known then) Life wasn't the same and she had to help out her husband financially and she started tutoring some children at home.
One day, her daughter witnessed this and refused to go to one of finest schools of Bombay. Her daughter insisted that she must be taught by her mother only.
As years passed and her daughter progressed into the next Grade; a new batch would begin and this is the foundation of Our Own School.
As many ex students have narrated, Mrs. Nabar was a visionary, a courageous woman, who fought all the challenges that came her way and saw a bigger picture for all of us.
This year; 2022-23 Our Own School celebrates 70 years and the entire Team of OOS is extremely grateful for the initial bricks laid down Mrs. Tara Nabar - Our Founder.
