"The Universe Loves a Stubborn Heart" - Unknown.

This stubborn heart is the major factor that initiated the foundation of a legacy.

At the age of 5, recovering from a viral flu; she saw her mother tutoring a few pupils from a nearby school and once she had fully recovered she refused to go to one of the finest schools of Bombay - St. Columba's.

Innumerable efforts to convince her were all in vain. Therefore, her mother wasn't left an option but to consider laying the bricks of Our Own School.

This was initiated with the concept of "home schooling". An unheard term in 1950's. Also, Mrs. Nabar had plans of closure after her daughter graduated.

However, her daughter's decision to start teaching and later graduating from the BTTC - Bombay Teacher's Training College never paved way for the school to be shut down.

Mrs. Jyotsna Nabar has been associated with Our Own School for the longest time in the history of Our Own School.

The Institution was started because of her. She continued to teach teach while she pursued her B.A. B.Ed. and Masters.

Although, she married in relocated to Bangalore in 1975, as fate would have it. She had to rejoin as the Management after our Founder's demise in 1976.

Mrs. Jyotsna Nabar Savur is one of strong pillars' and she continues to shed light to keep her vision going.

In an era (the 1960's), when women weren't bestowed with the privileges that we contemporary women are blessed with - A woman who hailed from a small town of Puttur in Mangalore; had the courage to take a plunge in the field of Entrepreneurship.

Born into a Traditional Hindu Temple family Brahmin family, she was introduced to Sanskrit Shloka's from a very young age and was raised with a traditional belief system.

However, she shattered the stereotype of her era and married the love of her Life and relocated to the "City of Dreams" - Mumbai.

In Bombay (as it was known then) Life wasn't the same and she had to help out her husband financially and she started tutoring some children at home.

One day, her daughter witnessed this and refused to go to one of finest schools of Bombay. Her daughter insisted that she must be taught by her mother only.

As years passed and her daughter progressed into the next Grade; a new batch would begin and this is the foundation of Our Own School.

As many ex students have narrated, Mrs. Nabar was a visionary, a courageous woman, who fought all the challenges that came her way and saw a bigger picture for all of us.

This year; 2022-23 Our Own School celebrates 70 years and the entire Team of OOS is extremely grateful for the initial bricks laid down Mrs. Tara Nabar - Our Founder.

On your Birth Anniversary, we make a promise and take an oath to Live by your Morals, Principles, Vision and Mission and keep going with the Legacy created by you.

You are our Inspiration... Thank You!

The students left no stone unturned to emote their feeling of patriotism through various forms of dance, songs and also enacted some episodes in history that propelled the ordinary men into the planning and ex*****on of the Freedom Movement.

This year marks 75 years of Free India and it is about time every Indian claims that Freedom and does his bit as a citizen of the nation.

Kudos to the Students and Team OOS for a magnificent event.
