Munshi Singh College, Motihari was started in July 1945 in a rented building of Mr. Rehman standing. Very near the railway station to its north-east. The college was affiliated to Patna University upto Intermediate standard in English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Logic, History and Economics. The jail building was given to the college by Late Dr. Shri Krishna Sinha, then Chief Minister of Bihar. B.Sc. classes were started in 1955-56 session. Affiliation in Arts subjects were given and after that Hons. Classes in science subjects were also started from 1962-63.
