1. Air Force Day 2021: Three units of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will receive the prestigious Chief of Air Staff Unit citation on the 89th foundation day of the force. The 47 Squadron, 116 Helicopter Unit and 2255 Squadron will receive the prestigious citation, the IAF announced.

2. The 47 Squadron will receive the citation for its participation in operations along the Pakistan border post February 26, 2019, the Balakot air strikes, and for those at high altitude in the Ladakh sector opposite China.

3. The 116 Helicopter Unit equipped with ALH Rudra-armed choppers has been awarded the citation for operations at the Pakistan border against slow-moving aircraft in the wake of Balakot, as well as for deployment at forward airbase along northern borders post the Galwan Valley clash.

4. The Srinagar-based 2255 Squadron, meanwhile, will be awarded for air defence activation in Ladakh following the incident in Galwan.

5. LUH military variant to make maiden test flight next August: After wrapping up a rigorous flight testing of prototype helicopters in challenging conditions, state-run plane makers Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) set August 2022 as the deadline for carrying out the maiden test flight of the first chopper in the indigenous light utility helicopter

6. India to take part in multi-nation air combat exercise in Israel this month: India this month will take part in the multi-nation `Blue Flag’ air combat exercise in Israel, which will also include the US, UK, Germany, Italy, France and Greece, and follow it up with another exercise `Hop’ in Egypt.

7. Ministry of Defence has said that process to select participants for National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2022 is in full swing. The Ministry said that competitive tests were conducted in 25 friendly countries last month to select approximately 300 cadets of NCC and youth organisations.

8. The selection process will be completed by the end of this month. It said, from each country, 10 cadets along with their instructors numbering total of around 300 participants will take part in the Republic Day Camp. Till now, seven countries, namely Brazil, Argentina, Mauritius, Seychelles, Nigeria, Mozambique and Maldives have confirmed their participation. The rest are in the final stage of confirmation.

9. The NCC RDC-2022 selection process has also commenced in States and Union Territories by NCC Directorates. Around 1,600 cadets from across the country would participate in the NCC Camp. Due to COVID-19 protocol, the duration of the Camp would be 43 days from December that include quarantine period as well. The actual commencement of the Camp is scheduled from January 16 to January 29, 2022, which includes Prime Minister’s Rally on 28th January.

5. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has delivered the heaviest semi-cryogenic propellant tank (SC120- LOX) ever fabricated to the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro). The tank will be used in the Mk-III launch vehicle for future missions

6. Uttar Pradesh : 15 persons were killed and 26 were injured when a double decker bus collided head on with a truck in Dewa police station area of Barabanki district on Thursday morning. The private bus carrying 55 passengers onboard was on its way to Bahraich from Delhi. The truck came from the wrong side and tried to save a stray cow on the road, lost control and rammed into the bus.

7. J&K: Five civilians have been killed in three days, including Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit and prominent chemist, and Mohammad Shafi, the president of a taxi stand and 2 teachers. Police sources say the manner in which terrorists executed the killings showed ISIS and Taliban imprint.

8. Jammu & Kashmir: Terrorists barged into Govt Boys Higher Secondary School at Eidgah in the outskirts of Srinagar city and shot dead two teachers from point blank range. Slain teachers have been identified as Supinder Kaur who was Principal of school and a teacher Deepak Chand.

1. The Indian Air Force will celebrate its 89th anniversary today. To mark the occasion and in keeping up with the tradition, a scintillating air display by various aircraft will be the hallmark of the Air Force Day Parade-cum- investiture Ceremony at Air Force Station Hindan in Ghaziabad tomorrow. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari will review the parade.

2. Centre on admitting women into the National Defence Academy (NDA), the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the government to make arrangements for the induction of girls into the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) by allowing them to take the exam scheduled on December 18, 2021.

3. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has taken delivery of another Sankalp-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV). The vessel, ICGS Sarthak with pennant no 21, was handed over by its builder Goa Shipyard.

4. India will be sending its Su-30 Flanker fighter jets to Japan for a series of joint exercises with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in this week.

5. India’s Indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) `Tejas’ could be an attractive option for the Argentine Air Force which is looking for multi-purpose fighters to be used for the surveillance and control of its airspace.

Pakistan court gives India more time to appoint lawyer in Kulbhushan Jadhav case: Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer, was arrested in March 2016 in Balochistan, according to Pakistan authority. He was sentenced to death by Pakistan military court in 2017. India has rejected Pakistan's allegations and said he was kidnapped from the Iranian port of Chabahar. In early 2017, a Pakistani military court sentenced him to death.

1. Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) that has been developing a 1,500-horsepower (HP) indigenous Bharat Power Pack engine for India.

2. Indian Navy is set to host its largest naval exercise, Ex Milan. It is being planned for February 2022 and invites have been sent to 46 countries. Milan, which began in 1995, is held biennially and brings together Navies of all the countries in the region. It has so far been held at Port Blair but is now being shifted to Visakhapatnam which offers more space and infrastructure.

3. The fifth edition of India - Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise JIMEX between the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force will be held in Arabian Sea from today (06 Oct). JIMEX series of exercises commenced in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation.

4. Bharat power pack will also replace the current 1,400-horsepower (HP) Euro Power Pack based on an MTU Series 880 engine acquired from Germany for the Arjun Mk1 and Mk1A Main Battle Tanks series that are in production or in the active service. Bharat power pack engine comes with transmission and includes a cooling system, air filtration, preheater, Turbo charger, electrical system, and power management and can be further customized for desert or high altitude operations depending on the user requirements.

5. Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is all set to test long-troubled Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM), a derivative of Nirbhay Cruise Missile with the indigenously developed Manik engine for the first time for a range of 750km from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), if weather permits even though launch window has been kept open from 6-8 Oct 2021.

6. The four astronaut-elects shortlisted to be part of India’s first human spaceflight mission — Gaganyaan — are set to complete their training in aerospace medicine at the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) soon. Once this training, which will be a basic module, is complete, the astronauts will return to Russia for a brief period.

7. Army Aviation Corps had requested Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for an extended Tail Rotor for the Army version in the FOC variant that will go under production soon and delivery planned by end of next year, HAL plans to deliver 6 Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) each for Army and Air force by end of 2022.

8. The 8th edition of India-Sri Lanka bilateral joint exercise Mitra Shakti commenced on 05 Oct at the Combat Training School Ampara in Sri Lanka. The two week long exercise is being conducted from 4th to 15th of this month. The Indian Army contingent comprising of 120 personnel of Infantry Battalion Group and a similar strength from a Battalion of the Sri Lankan Army are participating in the bilateral exercise.
