IHCL held a job sensitisation program at Newdawn Ashadeep on 25 Nov 2025.
One of our students Prajit Halankar was placed at Taj Exotica Benaulim last year shared his experience with the vocational unit trainees at Ashadeep. Some of our students' parents were in attendance. The staff at Taj Exotica also spoke about how Prajit feedback on adjusted to the work environment in the uniform room.
The IHCL representatives visited and interacted with the trainees of the Vocational unit.

We inaugurated our latest project on 22 November2025. Craftizen Foundation, Bangalore has sponsored Newdawn Ashadeep's Vocational unit a pulverizer and an agarbatti making machine. We collect flowers from temples, sort them by color and dry them in the shade. When fully dried we powder them in the pulverizer. This powder is then used to make agarbatti, dhoop, fridgemagnets, holi color, rangoli powder many more.
Since a large area is required for this work, our benefactors, The Fette Compacting company, Verna Industrial Estate, were happy to build a hall on our open terrace to facilitate this project.
We inaugurated The Pushpa Kala Aangan on 22 November2025
The global CEO of Fette compacting Co Mr. Joachim Dittrich cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque of our new work station. He was accompanied by their managing director Mr. Ashok Gourish managing Director, Dinesh Arumughan Director customer support Mr. Milind Rane manager Finance and controlling Fette Compacting India.
The Newdawn trustees Mr. Ajoy Raj and Mr. Sasindran Nair, and Chairman Mr. Savio Messias were also present at the inaugural.
We are thankful to the Chairman of Mormugao Port Authority and their civil engineering department for giving us the required permissions to carry out the construction.

As always, our students stole the hearts of our esteemed visitors with their dance performance and singing.
Our Vocational unit staff and trainees are ever grateful to The Fette Compacting Co for their benevolence and look forward to continued support from them.

Our headmistress Mrs. Vinny Fernandes and our teachers Mrs. Usha Devi, senior Special Educator, Mrs. Shradha Juvekar, head of the vocational unit, Mrs. Pooja Malik, Pre- vocational Special Educator were felicitated by The Mormugao Port Authority on 17th Sept 2025.

Ashadeep Day was celebrated on 15th September by the management of New Dawn, headmistress, staff and students. We were pleased to have our founder Chairman Advocate Vijay Chandran, whom we felicitated for his momentous role in establishing the New Dawn Charitable Trust and starting the school. He was accompanied by his lovely wife Olimpia.
In 1997, Adv. Vijayachandran along with his fellow trustees Mr. Baldevan, Adv. Sreedaran, Mr. Kirit Maganlal, Mr. Savio Messias, Mr. Ashraf Ali Nizari and Mr. Zaheer Karmali established the trust and started the school in the backroom of the Deepvihar Secondary School gym. The very first teachers Sadhana Karnad, Teresa Rosario, Vinny Fernandes, Sheuli Rajput, Ana Pinto, Rohini Dangui and Jacinta Mendonca de Silva along with the assistants Lalbi, Aleyamma, Nayan and Maya received their in-house training from Goa's first post graduate in Special education, Ms. Victoria Dias.
The then Chairman of Mormugao Port Trust Dr. Jose Paul, and some very competent officers and Engineers were instrumental in securing the space that the school is currently house in. We have grown from the initial 8 students to 92 in this the 29th year of Ashadeep Special School.
Later, due to Adv. Vijayachandran's untiring efforts, the school received Government recognition and became a Government aided school in 2006.

The felicitation of our stalwart founder Chairman was conducted by our headmistress Mrs. Vinny Fernandes and staff with support from our present trustees, Chairman Savio Messias, Mr. Sasindran Nair, Mrs. Girija Menon, Mr. Kirit Maganlal, Mr. Ashraf Ali Nizari, Mr. Ularico Rodrigues, Mr. Ajoy Raj, Mr. Sunil Loran and Mr. JaiAmol Naik alongwith the manager Ms. Jacinta Mendonca de Silva.
The simple and sedate function was made even more beautiful with the enthusiastic performances of our students.

The students of Ashadeep have been happily making Rakhis as they do every year. They paid a visit to the Bogda and Vasco police stations to show their gratitude and honour the policemen of our city. Its a delight to see the bright smiles on the faces of our policemen and of course the pride our students in showing their love!

We are so proud of and thankful to our brave jawans at the border. With gratitude and love, we made these Rakhis, which The Giants group of Vasco have sent to our brothers at Rajasthan border.

We are always gifted with snacks and treats by our trustee Mr. K. Sasindran. Today we planned a hush surprise birthday party for him. It was a lot of fun!
