Nurturing a community of thinkers...
Today I want to share my views with all of you on the current mindset of the handsome tots and gals..
These youngsters, the adolescents, are at home. Staring at the screen, attending pedagogy classes, curriculum and assignments...
The usual school schedule enabled this young student to participate in so many co curricular activities, touch base with the corporate world using activities like MUNs,Olympiads, competitions, where these questioning minds shared their views and their apprehensions. The vibe of competition has faded ,and THINKING and the connect with the real world has ebbed.
I am an Economics educator for the senior grades for past 15 years.
I would like to talk about some teaching methodologies that I have incorporated and experimented to teach this most happening social science.
Loud thinking, seeking questions for given answers, news analysis, case studies related to linkages of theory with REAL world, development of reasoning and also respecting all reasonings, our role and responsibilities in modern economic democracy, listening skills, choice of stronger issues in life viz a viz not so stronge issues, thoughtful economic analysis, identification of adversities and hedging against adversities....
These are some of the habits of mind that I try to develp among young students in ECONOMICS context.
The intersting part is that I will be practicing all these strategies using Class 11 and 12 Economics curriculum. CBSE and ICSE both. Yes, I will be holding hands of these students till the board exam gateway.
So if your ward enjoys Economics storytelling, I would love to interact with them, teach syllabus alongwith and help solve questions and definitely achieve a brilliant board score in a hopeful year 2021.
