About Tathagat Trust
Tathagat Trust is a charitable organization aimed at empowering the youth. We, at Tathagat, believe that to ensure the development of the nation, our youth play a very important role. It is imperative that we provide young children with quality education irrespective of their economic ability so that no student is deprived of equal opportunities to basic education. Thereafter, we work towards increasing the employability of youth by facilitating skill development. In our mission towards ensuring the overall development, we believe in focusing on inclusive growth. Our aim is to enhance merit without discrimination by trying to overcome the socio- cultural limitations that restrict youth from becoming a part of the mainstream. The Trust has been operating in the Naxalite areas of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for the past 10 years, focusing on tribal welfare, girl child education and skill development for the youth. The tribes of Kohl, Bhil and Gond have been at the centre of our welfare initiatives. Special efforts have been made towards mainstreaming of members of the Bawariya community that was unfortunately termed as the ‘Kachha baniyan gang’ by police and administration due to involvement in criminal activities. Regular interaction with these youth has started reaping results with their productive engagement with the society. Some students from the community have been successfully sent to reputed colleges of Delhi University for higher education where some of them are also preparing for public service examinations.
