Mirik College Inaugurates Late B. B. Thapa Digital Studio

Mirik College marked a significant step towards digital education with the inauguration of the Late B. B. Thapa Digital Studio today. The studio was inaugurated by Shri Sanjit Tamang, the newly appointed President of the Mirik College Governing Body, who formally assumed charge as President on the same day. Late B. B. Thapa was the first Teacher-in-Charge of Mirik College and one of its founder members, who played an important role in the formative years of the institution. The digital studio has been named after him in recognition of his contribution and association with the college. The short inaugural programme began with the cutting of the ribbon, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the photograph of Late B. B. Thapa. The programme was conducted by Ms. Nima Sangmu Bhutia, who highlighted the significance of naming the studio after Late B. B. Thapa and briefly recalled his contribution to the establishment and early development of Mirik College.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sherap Bhutia expressed his gratitude to Shri Raju Bista, Hon’ble MP, for gifting the college an interactive digital board. He said the digital board would strengthen the college’s digital classroom facilities and make teaching and learning more interactive and engaging, while giving students greater access to modern educational resources.

Prof. Prahlad Karki, Coordinator of the Digital Content Creator Lab, said the digital studio would provide students with an opportunity to develop practical skills in digital content creation. He said the facility could be used for educational recordings, presentations, interviews, podcasts and other academic and creative activities.
The inauguration of the Late B. B. Thapa Digital Studio marks another step by Mirik College towards integrating technology into education and providing students with modern learning and creative opportunities.

NSS FoundationDay Marked with Health Camp at Mirik College

Mirik College observed NSS Foundation Day with a health check-up and awareness programme organised jointly by NSS Unit-I, Unit-II and the college’s Health and Psychological Committee. A medical team from the Mirik Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) conducted health screenings for students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and distributed medicines where required. The team included Dr Nagma Azmi, Dr Saida Nazrin, health counsellor Sushma S***a and Tulsi Rai. Addressing the programme, college principal Dr Sherap Bhutia highlighted the importance of regular health care among students and thanked the BPHC medical team for supporting the initiative. NSS Programme Officer Prof. Bikram Rai spoke about the significance of NSS Foundation Day and the purpose behind organising the health camp. During the awareness session, Sushma S***a and Tulsi Rai discussed common health concerns, their causes and symptoms, along with preventive measures, and encouraged students to maintain healthy lifestyle practices. Prof. Kushal Tamang proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the medical team, college administration, faculty, staff and students for their contribution to the successful completion of the programme.

मिरिक महाविद्यालयमा एनएसएस स्थापना दिवस तथा स्वास्थ्य जाँच शिविर सम्पन्न

मिरिक, २४ अगस्त: आज मिरिक महाविद्यालयमा एनएसएस स्थापना दिवसको अवसर पारेर स्वास्थ्य जाँच तथा स्वास्थ्य सचेतना कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न भयो। महाविद्यालयका एनएसएस युनिट–१ र युनिट–२ तथा हेल्थ एन्ड साइकोलोजिकल कमिटीको संयुक्त तत्त्वावधानमा कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिएको थियो। स्वास्थ्य जाँच तथा सचेतनामूलक कार्यक्रमले महाविद्यालय परिवारमा स्वास्थ्यसम्बन्धी जागरूकता अभिवृद्धि गर्ने उद्देश्यले उक्त कार्यक्रमको आयोजन गरिएको थियो। मिरिक ब्लक प्राइमरी हेल्थ सेन्टर (BPHC) को मेडिकल टिमले महाविद्यालयका विद्यार्थी, शिक्षण तथा गैरशिक्षण कर्मचारीहरूको स्वास्थ्य जाँच गर्नुका साथै आवश्यक औषधिसमेत वितरण गरेको थियो। स्वास्थ्य जाँचमा डा. नग्मा अज्मी, डा. सैदा नजरिन, हेल्थ काउन्सिलर सुष्मा सुब्बा र तुलसी राई सहभागी थिए।
कार्यक्रमलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै महाविद्यालयका प्राचार्य डा. शेराप भुटियाले विद्यार्थीहरूको स्वास्थ्यको महत्त्वमाथि प्रकाश पार्दै स्वास्थ्य जाँच शिविर सञ्चालनमा सहयोग पुर्‍याएकोमा मिरिक बीपीएचसी तथा मेडिकल टिमप्रति आभार व्यक्त गरे। एनएसएसका प्रोग्राम अफिसर प्रा. बिक्रम राईले एनएसएस स्थापना दिवसको महत्त्व तथा स्वास्थ्य जाँच शिविर आयोजना गर्नुको उद्देश्यबारे जानकारी गराए। मेडिकल टिमका प्रतिनिधि सुष्मा सुब्बा र तुलसी राईले विद्यार्थीहरूलाई विभिन्न रोग, तिनका कारण, लक्षण तथा रोकथामका उपायबारे जानकारी दिँदै स्वस्थ जीवनशैली अपनाउन आग्रह गरे। कार्यक्रमको अन्त्यमा प्रा. कुशल तामाङले कार्यक्रमलाई सफल बनाउन सहयोग गर्ने मेडिकल टिम, महाविद्यालय प्रशासन, शिक्षक–कर्मचारी तथा विद्यार्थीहरूप्रति धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गरे।

Sanjit Tamang Takes Charge as Mirik College Governing Body President

Sanjit Tamang, also known as Sanjiv Lama, has taken charge as the new President of the Governing Body of Mirik College. A programme was organised at the college to welcome Tamang and mark the beginning of his tenure. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sherap Bhutia delivered the welcome address in the presence of faculty members, college representatives and students. Addressing the gathering after assuming office, Tamang said he would work towards strengthening the college’s academic environment, improving infrastructure and supporting its overall development. He also emphasised the need for greater coordination and cooperation among all sections of the college community. Dr Anand Chhetri, Head of the Nepali Department, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Prof. Sudipa Lama of the English Department. Students added to the occasion with musical and dance performances. The programme ended with a positive note as the college community welcomed the new leadership of its governing body.
