Value Added Course on “Investigations- When, How, Why and What?” held on 10th & 11th June 2022

A two day value added course of 16 hours duration was organized on “Investigations- When, How, Why and What?” on 10th & 11th June 2022 by Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology in collaboration with Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology. A total of 135 participants attended the programme which included Interns, BDS final year students & faculty of both the departments. The resource person for the course was Dr. Priya Kumar, Professor, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi and Dr. Ankit Goel (Oral Physician and Maxillofacial Radiologist), Director, Dr. Goel’s Dental and Maxillofacial Diagnostics, Hapur. They talked to the participants about most commonly used investigations (radiological and haematological) and guided them to implement these investigations in various oral lesions which are encountered in dental practice. Students also learned about the indications and how to read and interpret the results of various investigations. The workshop ended on 11th June with the valedictory function.

The Departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Medicine and Radiology have jointly published a Systematic Review on " Prevalence of Oral Manifestations in COVID-19: A systematic Review" in the journal "Reviews in Medical Virology", a well reputed journal with an impact factor of 6.989. Reviews in Medical Virology published by Wiley Publishers, publishes original scientific papers on fundamental as well as applied research concerning viruses affecting humans. Previously registered with CRD- PROSPERO (PROSPERO CRD42021258264), this article has been well researched & took almost 11 months to see the light of the day right from conceiving the idea till its final publication. The article intends to shed light on this mostly unknown topic and will help to have an objective look and better understanding of the COVID 19 infection.

The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology, conducted a lecture under the initiative PALS (Public Awareness Lecture Series) & on the occasion of National Oral Pathologists Day on “To***co & its Ill Effects” and a screening camp for the class 11th students of Swami Vivekanand Public School in Satwai, Meerut on 18th & 25th February 2022 respectively. The lecture emphasized on misuse of To***co products and its ill effects on overall wellbeing of youngsters.
