THE EASIER WAY MAY ACTUALLY BE THE TOUGHER WAY
Once there was lark singing in the forest. A farmer came by with a box full of worms. The lark stopped him and asked, “What do you have in the box and where are you going?” The farmer replied that he had worms and that he was going to the market to trade them for some feathers. The lark said, “I have many feathers. I will pluck one and give it to you and that will save me looking for worms.”
The farmer gave the worms to the lark and the lark plucked a feather and gave it in return. The next day the same thing happened and the day after and on and on until a day came that the lark had no more feathers.
Now it could no longer fly to go hunting for worms. It started looking ugly and stopped singing and very soon died.
The Moral of The Story
What the lark thought was an easy way to get food turned out to be the tougher way. There are no short cuts in life.

On a clear day, there are hundreds of boats sailing in all different directions in a lake. Even the wind is blowing in one direction, the sailboats are going in different directions. Why? It depends on the way the sail is set and that is determined by the sailor. The same is true of our lives. We can’t choose the direction of wind, but we can choose how we set our sail.

Life is like a cafeteria. You take your tray, select your food and pay at the other end. You can get anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the price. In a cafeteria, if you wait for people to serve you, you will wait forever. Life is like that too. You make choices and pay the price to succeed. In fact, the reverse is true. We never pay the price for success. We reap the rewards of success. We actually pay the price for failure.

YOUR INNER GUIDANCE SYSTEM IS YOUR JOY.
Pat Williams is the senior vice-president of the Orlando basket ball team. He has written 36 books and is a professional speaker. When asked, ‘What he felt the greatest secret to success was, he replied, “Figure out what you love to do as young as you can, and then organize your life around figuring out how to make a living at it.” For young Pat, it was sports – more specifically, baseball. When his father took him to his first baseball game, he fell in love with the game. He learned to read by reading the sports section of the ‘New York Times’. He knew he wanted to grow up and have a career in sports. He devoted almost every waking moment to it. He collected baseball cards, played sports, and wrote a sports column for the school newspaper.
Now in eighties, Pat has enjoyed 40-plus years doing what he loves, and he has enjoyed every minute of it.
Moral of the story
Once you are clear about what brings you the greatest joy, you will have a major insight into your purpose.
