Today, on 31-08-2023, Vidyasagar University has inaugurated The Resource Centre of Coastal Observatory and Outreach Centre (COOC), at Vidyasagar University campus, Midnapur,
West Bengal. The centre was inaugurated by Prof. Susanta Kumar Chakraborty, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Vidyasagar University in presence of Dr. Jatisankar Bandyopadhyay, Principal Investigator, INCOIS Project. The centre was established in collaboration with
Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Government of India, Hyderabad and Department of Fisheries, Government of West Bengal. The Coastal Observatory and Outreach Centre (COOC) of Vidyasagar University is an interdisciplinary Centre to pursue research and education on ocean, coast and disaster related studies. The focused R&D activities of the coastal station will help to upgrade the quality of ocean services on livelihood, sea safety and disaster provided by the INCOIS.
