১) হরমোন কাকে বলা হয়? হরমোনের বেশিষ্ট্যগুলি লেখো?
⇒ যে সব রাসায়নিক পদার্থ জীবদেহের বিশেষ ধরনের নির্দিষ্ট কতকগুলো কোষ বা কোষসমষ্টি বা অন্তঃক্ষরা গ্রন্থি থেকে উৎপত্তি লাভ করে বিশেষ উপায়ে বাহিত হয়ে দূরবর্তী কোন অঞ্চলের কোষগুলোর কার্যকারিতাকে নিয়ন্ত্রন করে এবাং ক্রিয়ার পর ধাসপ্রাপ্ত হয়, তাকে হরমোন বলে।

২.হরমোনের ধেমিষ্ট্য

১)হরমোন একরকম প্রোটিন ধর্মী বা স্টেরয়েড বা অ্যামাইনো- 'ধর্মী জেব রাসায়নিক পদার্থ, যা নিঃসৃত স্থান থেকে দূরবর্তী স্থানে ক্রিয়া করে (ব্যতিক্রম: স্থানীয় হরমোন)।

২) হরমোন জেব অনুঘটকের মত ক্রিয়া করে, কিন্তু ক্রিয়ার পর বাসপ্রাপ্ত হয় এবং দ্রুত সে স্থান থেকে বের হয়ে যায়।

3) নিঃসৃত স্থান ছাড়া দেহের অন্য কোথাও হরমোন সঞ্চিত হয়না,

4) হরমোন জীবদেহে রাসায়নিক সমন্বয়কারী অর্থাৎ কেমিক্যাল কো-অর্ডিনেটর হিসেবে কাজ করে।

(ঘ) হরমোন খুব স্বল্পমাত্রায় ক্রিয়া করে, কিন্তু এই ক্লিয়ার স্থায়িত্বকাল বহুদিন পর্যন্ত থাকে। প্রয়োজনের তুলনায় হরমোন কম - বেশী ক্ষরিত হলে জীবদেহে অস্বাভাবিকত্ব দেখা যায়।

6) হরমোন কোষে কোষে রাসায়নিক বার্তা প্রেরন করে-এই জিন্য হরমোনকে রাসায়নিক দূত বা রাসায়নিক বার্তাবহ যা কেমিক্যাল মেসেঞ্জার বলে।

৭) কোন একটি অন্তরক্ষরা গ্রন্থির ক্ষরনক্রিয়া পরোক্ষভাবে অন্য গ্রন্থির মাধ্যমে নিজেই নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়ে থাকে। তাই পদ্ধতিকে ফিড-ব্যাক বলা হয়।

৪) প্রাণীদেহে কোন কোন কার্যক্ষেতে কোনও একটি হরমোন ওই কাজে সহায়তা করে, আবার কোন একটি হরমোন ঐ কাজে বাধা দেয়। এইভাবে হরমোন প্রাণীদেহে দ্বৈত-নিয়ন্ত্রক রূপেকাজ করে।

⇒ Those chemical substances that originate from specific types of cells or cell aggregates or endocrine glands of the organism, are transported in a special way, control the function of the cells of a distant region and are released after action, are called hormones.

2. Properties of hormones

1) Hormones are either proteinaceous or steroid or amino-chemical substances that act at sites distant from the site of secretion (exception: local hormones).

2) The hormone pocket acts like a catalyst, but is occupied after action and is quickly removed from the site.

3) Hormones are not stored anywhere else in the body except the secretory site.

4) Hormones act as chemical coordinators in the body.

(d) Hormones act at very low doses, but this clearance lasts for many days. Abnormalities are seen in the body if hormones are secreted less than required.

6) Hormones send chemical messages from cell to cell-These hormones are chemical messengers called chemical messengers.

7) The secretion of any one endocrine gland is indirectly controlled by another gland itself. Hence the method is called feed-back.

4) In the animal body, any one hormone helps that work, and any one hormone prevents that work. Thus the hormone acts as a dual regulator in the organism.
