IMT Hyderabad celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a spirit of patriotism, unity, and national pride. The celebrations commenced with a meticulously organised parade led by the security team, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Director Prof (Dr) K M Baharul Islam and the National Anthem.

Centred on the theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat,” Prof Islam paid tribute to the freedom fighters and armed forces who safeguarded the nation’s freedom, while also acknowledging the dedicated security personnel of IMT Hyderabad. He emphasised the true meaning of freedom of speech-the courage to question, speak up, and raise one’s voice encouraging students to think independently and exercise their judgement in an era shaped by bias, algorithms, and misinformation. Referring to Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, he urged millennials and Gen Z to stand together in asking important questions, engage with differing perspectives, and create the same space for future generations.

The celebrations concluded on a vibrant note with spectacular performances by Antragna, the cultural club of IMT Hyderabad, bringing the spirit of patriotism and celebration to life.

IMT Hyderabad’s students recently visited the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at IIIT Hyderabad, gaining firsthand exposure to a leading deep-tech innovation and incubation ecosystem.

The visit included a guided tour of CIE’s research labs and infrastructure, followed by insightful interactions with incubated startup founders. Students gained practical perspectives on early-stage ex*****on, customer validation, venture creation, and navigating real-world market challenges.

A key highlight was the interaction with Prof Veera Prakash, who provided valuable insights into the role of the Technology Transfer Office and its contribution to strengthening the connection between academic research and innovation-led growth. The experience offered students a deeper understanding of deep-tech innovation, startup scaling, and entrepreneurial ecosystems, complementing classroom learning with practical exposure.

Special thanks to Prof (Dr) Ahmad Faraz Khan and Prof Sathish Kumar Kannan for organising the industry connect, and to the CIE team led by Ms Nirupa Vijaykumar for their warm hospitality and seamless coordination.
