The pre-conference workshops of VIROGLOBAL 2026 marked an engaging and insightful start to the conference 🧬✨

Participants explored advanced techniques through two specialized sessions—“Genome Editing using CRISPR-Cas9” led by Dr. Shyam Sundar Nandi, Scientist E / Deputy Director, Division of Biotechnology, ICMR–NIV Mumbai Unit, along with his team, and “Organoids & 3D Cell Culture” featuring expert sessions by Dr. Shibu Chameettachal, Associate Professor (Research), KMC Manipal and Dr. Ankur Gautam, Lab Services, Merck Life Sciences.

From precision genome editing to advanced 3D models for studying viral infections, the workshops provided a comprehensive combination of theoretical insights and practical exposure, empowering researchers to expand their scientific horizons 🔬🌍

✨VIROGLOBAL 2026 | Inauguration ✨

VIROGLOBAL 2026 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm 🎓🌍, bringing together global experts in virology under the joint organisation of the Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV) and ICMR–National Institute of Virology (NIV).

The ceremony featured the traditional lamp lighting , followed by a warm welcome by Dr. Chiranjay Mukhopadhyay, Director, MIV and an insightful conference overview by Dr. Naveen Kumar, Director, ICMR-NIV. The address by Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE highlighted the importance of innovation and collaboration in global health.

A key highlight was the unveiling of the Abstract Book by Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, MAHE, and Dr. Nivedita Gupta, Scientist G & Head, Communicable Diseases Division, ICMR, New Delhi, marking the beginning of impactful scientific exchange.
