80th Independence Day Celebration at Government Junior High School Rangrang
“Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it!”
Today, the family of Government Junior High School, Rangrang, came together to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of our nation, India, with great pride, enthusiasm, and patriotic spirit.
We were honoured to have Shri M. B. Thapa, Panchayat Member, Rangrang Ward, as our Chief Guest, and Smt. Moti Maya Limboo, Zilla Panchayat Member, Tingchim Chandey GPU, as our Guest of Honour. We were also privileged by the presence of Retd. Honorary Subedar Major Arjun Rana; Retd. Subedar Suresh Chettri; Shri Prem Bdr. Tamang, NYSS Vice President; Shri Kiran Limboo, NYSS Member; Shri Bal Bdr. Gurung, NYSS Member; Shri Maker Dhoj Limboo, NYSS Member; Shri Dawa Tamang, Youth Coordinator, Rangrang; Smt. Sarita Tamang, ASHA, Rangrang; Smt. Chandra Kala Limboo, ICDS, Rangrang; Smt. Leela Devi Neopaney, ICDS, Rangrang; Smt. Dil Maya Tamang, ICDS, Rangrang; Smt. Kumari Rai, SMC President, Rangrang JHS; Shri B. B. Giri, SMC Vice President; Shri M. B. Limboo, SMC Member (Educationist); and Smt. Pavitra Limboo, SMC Member.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by our respected Chief Guest in the presence of the distinguished guests, followed by the National Anthem, a march-past, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest.
The programme continued with the offering of Khadas, followed by a warm welcome speech by Miss Kingchum Lepcha. Our beloved students then presented a soulful patriotic song, followed by a speech on the importance and significance of Independence Day, delivered by Sir Diwang Rai.
The cultural programme added colour and vibrancy to the celebration. Our talented students performed a graceful Lepcha dance, followed by an energetic Hindi dance. This was followed by exciting sports activities for the students, including balloon bursting and pencil insertion, which created an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm.
A particularly proud and memorable moment of the day was the felicitation of our local hero, Retd. Honorary Subedar Major Arjun Rana, in recognition of his selfless service and dedication to our nation. His service and sacrifice continue to inspire our students and the entire community.
The cultural programme continued with a wonderful Bhutia dance performed by our students, followed by an inspiring speech by our Special Guest. Thereafter, engaging activities were conducted between the school staff and the invited guests, creating moments of laughter, camaraderie, and togetherness.
An energetic Nepali dance was then presented by our students, followed by an address by our respected Chief Guest. Afterwards, mementoes were presented to the invited guests by our respected Headmistress as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
The sports activities continued with exciting events such as book balancing on the back, sack race, and ball passing. The enthusiasm of the participants and the encouragement from the audience made these activities especially enjoyable. The prize distribution ceremony followed, where the top three performers in each sporting event were felicitated by the distinguished guests.
The formal programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by our School In-charge, Sir Dawa Ths. Lepcha, who expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration.
Following the programme, a delicious lunch was served to our honoured guests, parents, school staff, and students. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Shri Bal Bdr. Gurung and his team for preparing the wonderful meal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and appreciated their efforts.
As we bring this memorable celebration to a close, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our esteemed guests for their valuable presence and for taking the time to grace our institution on this special occasion. We are equally thankful to the parents and people of Rangrang for joining us and making the celebration even more meaningful.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated school staff for their hard work, commitment, patience, and wholehearted efforts, which ensured that the programme was conducted smoothly and successfully.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to our beloved students, whose active participation, enthusiasm, creativity, and patriotic spirit brought life to the entire celebration and made the day truly memorable and mesmerising.
Finally, we extend our special thanks to our wonderful hosts, Miss Tashi Bhuita and Sir Balaram Kami, for conducting and coordinating the programme so smoothly and gracefully.
It was indeed a day filled with patriotism, unity, joy, culture, and community spirit—a celebration that will remain a cherished memory for the entire family of Government Junior High School, Rangrang.
