Converting total kitchen Solid Waste into Compost - An initiative of Environmental Cell of PAFGC.

Environmental Cell of PAFGC initiated a project on HB converting kitchen solid waste into compost on 14 March 2023. The earthen harmipot was placed in food preparation lab of Food Science Department, PAFGC so that the kitchen solid waste can be dropped into the earthen hermipot.
It requires a minimum of 90 days for the kitchen solid waste to get converted into compost.
When the compost is ready, it is dried in sunlight for 2 days and then fed to the plants.
This is a great initiative of PAFGC concerning the environmental factors in developing the clean and green campus.
The project was inaugurated by Prof C V Pujar, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, P.A. College of Engineering in the presence of Dr Surfraz J Hasim, Principal, PAFGC, Hony. Capt. Rudresha, Campus Supervisor and other staff of PAFGC on 14 March 2023.

On 07 Feb 2024, the compost was fed to the plants in the campus.

Program Outcomes:
1. An awareness on converting kitchen solid waste into compost using earthen harmipot has been created among staff and students.
2. ⁠Nutritious compost has been fed to the plants for better growth and wellbeing of plants.

Inauguration Report - P A First Grade College New Academic Block

The inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed academic block at P A First Grade College was held on February 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The event marked a significant milestone for the institution, introducing state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the learning environment.

The newly inaugurated academic block features modern amenities, including well-equipped classrooms, staff room, computer lab, food preparation lab, and food processing lab.
The ceremony commenced with a gathering in the seminar hall, whereas Mr. Afthab from 1st yearBBA ,initiated the proceedings with a prayer.

Dr. Surfraz.J.Hasim, the esteemed principal, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, including trustees, institution staff, Heads of Departments (HOD), and principals from sister institutions. The event witnessed the invocation of blessings by Mr. Muzammil Maulavi, setting a positive and auspicious tone.

Abdullah Ibrahim, the managing trustee, delivered an inaugural address, shedding light on the vision and mission behind the newly constructed academic block. The audience was then enriched by the insightful speech of Dr. Abdul Rahman, a revered figure who has served as the former vice-chancellor of Kannur and Calicut University.

Continuing the sequence of distinguished speakers, Mr. Ahmad Kutty, Director (Finance) of P A Educational Trust, shared valuable perspectives on the financial aspects of the institution's growth and development.

The ceremony reached its pinnacle with a comprehensive vote of thanks by Dr. G Harikrishnan, the vice-principal of PAFGC. He expressed gratitude to all attendees, organizers, and contributors, emphasizing the collective effort that made the inauguration a resounding success.

The inauguration of the academic block at P A First Grade College was not merely an event; it symbolized a commitment to excellence in education and the continuous pursuit of knowledge. As the college embarks on a new chapter, the newly inaugurated facilities are poised to provide a conducive environment for academic growth and innovation.

On 15/11/2023, 60 students of first and final year FT and FND students and 2 teaching staff Ms.Krithika and Ms.Sreelakshmi visited SRR masala powder industry as a part of an industrial visit.First, we saw the processing of cleaning the ginger through a machine and it is explained by a industry faculty.Next he showed the Reverse Osmosis water, filtered water that is used to make the ginger paste.They provided insights into various processes and machines that is used for grinding,mixing,packing,sealing,capping machine ,printing machine etc.All the process where explained by sir and the doubts of the students were explained very clearly.Ms.Krithika,Ms.Sreelakshmi accompanied and guided the students during the industrial visit.
