"The Mantra is God. And God Himself is the Mantra. You are never alone when you have Japa (recitation of Mantra) with you. Know this for certain. An aspirant should have implicit faith and belief in his Mantra and should surrender himself fully to the Ishta Devata. He should, without fail, follow all the instructions given by his preceptor at the time of initiation. He should have complete belief that he can attain God Realisation through Mantra-Japa in this Kaliyuga. Mantra-Diksha should be taken as a means for God Realisation alone and not for worldly ends. To discard Mantra-Japa after receiving Mantra Diksha, is an insult to the Mantra. Therefore, it should be avoided at all costs. May the Mantra ever dwell within you. Be sustained by it."

Japa Sadhana (Mantra Chanting) in Kali Yuga :

An aspirant should have implicit faith and belief in his Mantra and should surrender himself fully to the Ishta Devata. We do not require any special day to celebrate God, because God is everywhere, every day, always. So we can always rejoice in Him, because He is a perpetual being. He is Eternal. And being all-pervading He is everywhere present. We are never far from Him; He is ever near to us at all times. Essential teachings of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivananda

You must embody Gurudev’s teachings. And the essence of his practical instructions to you on the spiritual path have been summed up in five or six important admonitions of his. These, every member of the Divine Life Society must have at his finger-tips. They should be engraved in your heart, to follow them and to incorporate them in your life would be totally fulfilling Gurudev’s concept of Divine Life. It will make your very life a living exposition of Gospel of Sivananda. Sri Gurudev laid the greatest importance to the observance of these sets of his personal teachings which I now give for your close attention. They are contained in the following:—

1. The "Resolve Form" with its 18 items.

2. Twenty Important Spiritual Instructions.

3. The Science of Seven Cultures.

4. A daily routine Time-table with well thought out, systematic programme from dawn till night. This may not be rigid but flexible according to dictates of common-sense.

You are Divine !

Thoughts are the seed, the source of all activity. Action is thought translated outwardly. As are the thoughts, so are the actions. So is the necessity of thoughts of Ahimsa, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, sympathy, friendliness, brotherly unity, and cosmic love. Then alone your speech and action will be of same quality, of the same nature. You are now commencing to give expression to your real identity, in which you are Divine, in which you are a centre of love, a centre of all that is auspicious and good, a centre of peace, sweetness and kindness.

Regular Svadhyaya :

Svadhyaya means sitting before the authors of the scriptures. When you sit in Svadhyaya, you place yourself in rapport with the great ones who are illumined with the radiance of Self-realisation. They have become one with the eternal Spirit, and therefore, their personality is eternal. How much would be the power of spiritual writers whose every word comes out of the direct Experience!
