SIT is one of the upcoming colleges in South Canara Region. This institute was started in the academic year 2006-07, which is a unit of A. And it is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum and is recognized by the AICTE New Delhi. SIT is situated on Valachil Gudde, near Farangipete. It is about 15km from M’lore towards BC Road. Bus facilities are provided for the students

and the lecturers from M’lore, Puttur, BC Road, Udupi and Talapady. The college was established with 7 engineering streams i.e., Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Science, Aeronautical, Automobile and Electrical. And has added Masters Degree programs in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Applications (MCA), Industrial Automation (M’Tech), Thermal (M'Tech).
