The joint celebration of Charaka Jayanti and Samskrta Dinotsava is a vibrant cultural and academic event dedicated to honoring ancient Indian medical heritage and the Sanskrit language. As part of the observance of the 11th National Ayurveda Day, Department of P.G. studies in Dravyaguna Vijnana, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Ashok Nagar, Mangalore, A Unit of SCS Group of Institutions, KECT, Hoigebail, in association with the AYUSH Department, Dakshina Kannada, organised a Medicinal Plant Exhibition at Lions Ashok Seva Bhavan, Kadri, Mangalore on 23-09-2026.

The exhibition was organised with the objective of creating awareness among the public regarding the importance of medicinal plants, their Ayurvedic properties, therapeutic applications, identification, conservation, and their role in promoting health and wellbeing. The programme also aimed to highlight the rich traditional knowledge of medicinal plants described in Ayurveda and encourage their appropriate and sustainable utilisation.

Faculty members of Department of P.G. studies in Dravyaguna Vijnana Dr. Swapna Bhat, Professor & Head, Dr. Soumyashree K. M., Associate Professor, Dr. Srijaya V. Prabhu, Associate Professor and Dr. Niyathi, Associate Professor along with PG scholars of the Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana actively participated in organising and explaining the medicinal plants.
The visitors were provided with information regarding the identification, collection, preservation and therapeutic applications of the displayed plants.

The 11th Ayurveda Day programme was organized with great enthusiasm to commemorate and promote the rich heritage, principles, and significance of Ayurveda. The programme was headed by Dr. Shubhasri B.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Swathi Suvarna, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, staff, students, and other participants. This was followed by the Vice Principal’s address by Dr. Ajith Kamath, who highlighted the importance of Ayurveda in promoting health and well-being.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Shankaran Namboothiri, was then introduced by Dr. Surabhi P. The Chief Guest delivered an insightful and informative talk emphasizing the relevance and importance of Ayurveda in the present healthcare scenario.
Following the address, a felicitation ceremony was held to honour the Chief Guest, Dr. Shankaran Namboothiri. The Chief Guest was felicitated by the Principal, Vice Principal, and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Udaya D. K.
The programme continued with the prize distribution ceremony, conducted in connection with the National Ayurveda Day celebrations, recognizing and appreciating the achievements and participation of the students.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vidhya N., who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, faculty members, staff, students, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The entire programme was efficiently compered by Dr. B Shivani Rao. (MC).
A total of 300 student participated in the programme. The event was conducted in a well-organized manner and served as a meaningful platform to celebrate Ayurveda and create awareness about its continued relevance in contemporary healthcare.

On the auspicious eve of National Ayurveda Day, a specialized Free Eye Retinal Care Camp was organized at the campus of Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in Hoigebail, Ashoknagar. The initiative aimed to provide crucial screening, diagnostic services, and awareness regarding retinal health and specialized Ayurvedic ocular treatments to the public.The formal event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Sajith M., Principal of Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, who emphasized the growing relevance of integration between traditional wisdom and modern diagnostic practices in managing complex eye disorders.Key Highlights and Dignitaries Present:Dr. Veena Vinayak (Medical Director and HOD, Department of Shalakya Ta**ra) detailed the pivotal role of Shalakya Ta**ra (Ayurvedic Ophthalmology) in preserving vision and treating degenerative retinal conditions.Dr. Vijayalakshmi (Deputy Medical Director) highlighted the hospital's ongoing commitment to community health and accessible healthcare services.Dr. Manushree (Assistant Professor, Department of Shalakya Ta**ra) and Dr. Abhishek T. As part of the National Ayurveda Day 2026 celebrations, the Department of Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana organized a cooking competition on 19th September 2026, based on the theme “Rasanubhava – One Disease, One Pathya.”
The programme was graced by the presence of the Principal, Vice Principal, teaching faculty, and students. A total of 40 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, preparing and displaying a variety of disease-specific Pathya Ahara for the audience.
The participants explained the significance of Pathya Ahara in relation to specific diseases, highlighting the importance of appropriate dietary practices in Ayurvedic healthcare. The displayed preparations were appreciated and relished by the faculty members and students.
The competition provided an engaging platform for students to showcase their culinary skills and understanding of Ayurvedic dietary principles. It also emphasized the vital role of Pathya Ahara in promoting health and supporting disease management, making the event an informative and enriching experience for everyone involved.

A Nadi Pariksha Camp was organized by the Department of Kriya Sharira on 20th September 2025 at Kadri Park, in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Dakshina Kannada. The camp provided Nadi Pariksha and basic health assessment services to the public, with a total of 50 beneficiaries. Four interns Ms Deepashree, Ms Sneha, Ms Vaishnavi, Ms Ananya and Dr Monisha Associate Professor Department of Kriya Shareera actively participated in conducting and supporting the camp. The programme aimed to promote awareness of traditional Ayurvedic health assessment and preventive healthcare practices among the community.
