Presenting the Seasons Name In Tulu

Tulunadu traditionally experiences two main seasons — Aregalo (summer) and Mariyalo (monsoon). 🌞🌧️ To enhance awareness, additional seasonal names have been adapted for educational purposes.

As the Tulu proverb says:
“Āṭiḍdụ bokka aregāla, māyiḍdụ bokka mariyāla” —
Summer follows Āṭi, and monsoon follows Māyi, reflecting the wisdom of Tulunadu's native calendar. 🌿

To describe other seasons:
🍂 Iretālụ – “leaves fall” (Autumn)
🌸 Tegụlụ – “flower blooms” (Blossom/Spring)
❄️ Kuḷụrụ - "Cold" (Winter)

The “-ālo” suffix (from Sanskrit Kaala meaning "season") is traditionally used in Tulu, as seen in Aregalo and Mariyalo, preserving the language’s cultural roots.
