As part of International Youth Day 2026 celebrations, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences organized the Best Self-Care Plan Competition on 12.08.2026 at the BGSINS Multipurpose Hall, Sasyakashi.
The competition was conducted for students of all batches to promote self-care and holistic well-being among future nursing professionals.
Students prepared and presented a practical one-week Daily Self-Care Plan focusing on healthy and achievable daily routines.
The plans incorporated six key components: adequate sleep, exercise, healthy eating, mindfulness, recreation, and social support.
Participants creatively demonstrated strategies for maintaining physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.
Students confidently presented their plans and highlighted the importance of stress management, emotional resilience, and burnout prevention.
Faculty members evaluated the presentations based on creativity, practicality, completeness, and relevance of the proposed self-care strategies.
The activity increased students’ awareness, confidence, and motivation to adopt sustainable healthy lifestyle and self-care practices.
The competition also encouraged students to develop balanced routines and strengthen their personal well-being for effective professional nursing practice. The activity contributed to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

The Department of Child Health Nursing, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences, Adichunchanagiri University, organized an Alumni Student Dialogue titled “Pass the Stethoscope” on 12th August 2026 at the BGS Global Broadcasting Centre. The programme provided students with an opportunity to interact with experienced nursing alumni and learn from their academic and professional journeys. The alumni shared valuable insights regarding career opportunities, higher education, specialization, competitive examinations, research, leadership and professional development in nursing. They discussed the transition from student life to professional nursing practice and emphasized the importance of clinical competence, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, professional ethics and compassionate patient care. The alumni also shared their experiences of overcoming early career challenges through dedication, confidence, continuous learning and professional development. Students actively participated in the interactive question-and-answer session and clarified their doubts regarding employment, higher studies, career pathways and professional growth. The session motivated students to make effective use of their academic and clinical learning opportunities and remain updated with developments in healthcare and nursing practice. The programme strengthened the relationship between alumni, students and the institution while providing practical guidance for future career planning. Overall, “Pass the Stethoscope – Alumni Student Dialogue” was an enriching and inspirational programme that motivated students to become confident, skilled, compassionate and socially responsible nursing professionals.

The Department of Child Health Nursing, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences, organized International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” The programme aimed to create awareness about the significance of youth participation in building a healthier, inclusive, sustainable, and compassionate society. An expert session on “Building Emotional Resilience: Strong Minds, Compassionate Nurse” was delivered by Ms. Deeksh*tha T.M., focusing on emotional resilience, mental well-being, self-awareness, and personal growth. The session addressed emotional challenges faced by nursing students during academics, clinical postings, examinations, and professional practice. Students were introduced to healthy coping strategies, stress management, mindfulness, self-care, positive thinking, emotional regulation, and work-life balance. The resource person emphasized the importance of empathy, compassion, effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and confidence in nursing practice. The programme encouraged students to develop resilience and become responsible, socially committed, and compassionate healthcare professionals. A total of 120 students actively participated and interacted with the resource person, making the session informative, interactive, and motivating. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the chief guest, management, principal, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and participation. The activity contributed to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, and SDG 5 – Gender Equality, inspiring youth to contribute positively to society and sustainable development.

Memorandum of Agreement Signed Between Adichunchanagiri University and the Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute

A Memorandum of agreement signed between Adichunchanagiri University (ACU), B. G. Nagara, Mandya and the Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSB-CSRTI), Mysuru, on 19th August 2026 at the Adichunchanagiri University Board Room.

The MoA focuses on the project titled “Certification of Biodegradable Packaging Material Developed from Cellulose Isolated from Sericulture Waste.” The collaboration aims to establish a scientific basis for the certification of the biodegradable packaging material and explore its potential applications as a sustainable alternative to conventional packaging materials.

The MoA was signed in the presence of Dr. S. N. Col (Hon, Rtd) Dr. S.N. Sridhara, Vice-Chancellor, ACU; Dr. C. K. Dr C K Subbaraya, Registrar, ACU; Dr. Prashantha Kalappa, Dean–Research, ACU; Dr. Madhusudhan K. N., Scientist-D, CSB-CSRTI; Dr. Sugavaneshwaran K., Scientist-B, CSB-CSRTI; and Dr. Anilkumar C., Associate Professor, ACU.

This collaboration marks an important step towards sustainable materials research, value addition of sericulture waste, and the development and certification of environmentally friendly biodegradable packaging technologies.

Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing and Adichunchanagiri Institute of Nursing organized KALOTSAVA–2K26, a two-day cultural competition on 07th and 08th August 2026 at the BGS Auditorium. The event provided students an opportunity to showcase their talents in music, dance, drama, and visual arts while promoting creativity, teamwork, confidence, and cultural unity.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C. K. Subbaraya, Registrar, ACU; Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, ACN; Mrs. Lathashree B, Cultural Coordinator, ACU; and all Heads of Departments.

Day 1 – 07th August 2026: Solo Classical Dance, Group Dance, Mime, and Cooking Without Fire were conducted.

Day 2 – 08th August 2026: Group Song, Duet Dance, Movie Recreation, and Face Painting were conducted.

The events were judged by Mrs. Lathashree B, Cultural Coordinator, ACU, along with appointed internal faculty members. Around 200 students actively participated in the competitions.

Objectives

1. To provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity.
2. To promote confidence, self-expression, and active participation.
3. To develop teamwork, leadership, cooperation, and coordination.

Outcomes

1. Students demonstrated creativity and artistic skills.
2. Participants gained confidence and improved their stage presence.
3. The event promoted teamwork, unity, and cultural appreciation.

The inaugural ceremony on 10th August 2026 was graced by Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Honourable Vice Chancellor, ACU; Dr. C. K. Subbaraya, Registrar, ACU; Prof. Victoria Sarvand, Principal, ACN; and Sports Coordinators Mr. Kumar K. C. and Mr. Kiran Kumar. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Shilpa P. M.

🏃 Day 1 – 10th August 2026
Morning: 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, and Shot Put for boys and girls.
Afternoon: Throwball and Kabaddi for girls, and Cricket and Volleyball group-stage matches for boys.

🏆 Day 2 – 11th August 2026
Morning: Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Long Jump, Boys’ Kabaddi group matches, and Cricket Semi-Final.
Afternoon: Cricket Final, Kabaddi Semi-Final and Final, Volleyball Semi-Final and Final, and 100 m Finals for boys and girls.

The event promoted physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, leadership, and healthy competition among students.
