🌊 Celebrating the 62nd National Maritime Day - S.P. Marine Academy 🌊
On this momentous occasion of National Maritime Day, observed annually since 1964, we at S.P. Marine Academy, Junagadh, Gujarat, proudly honor the rich maritime heritage of India and its continued progress in the global shipping industry.
April 5th holds deep historical significance as it marks the day in 1919 when India’s first indigenous steamship, ‘S.S. Loyalty,’ embarked on its maiden voyage from Mumbai to London. This remarkable event laid the foundation for India's maritime prowess and remains a poignant reminder of the hard work, dedication, and innovation that has propelled India into becoming a leading player in the global maritime sector.
To commemorate this milestone, National Marine Week is observed from March 30th to April 5th, culminating in the celebration of National Maritime Day. This year's theme, "Prosperous Seas - Developed India & Youth for Blue Economy & Green Growth," underscores the importance of sustainable development in the maritime industry and the vital role youth play in shaping a greener and more prosperous future for India.
S.P. Marine Academy is proud to have participated in several events to celebrate and promote this year’s National Maritime Day:
