Chelembra was in dark, when the students of this village could
not pursue their Education beyond primary level. To reach the
nearby High School, the students had to walk miles up and
down. The transportation facilities were also almost nil. For
this reason almost all the students especially girls stopped
their Education in elementary and primary level. It was this situation that made Mr. Sankarana
rayanan to
think of starting a High School for the student community of
his area. Thus in 1976 Narayanan Nair Memorial Higher
Secondary School started functioning with 8th standard. In
1977, 1st SSLC Batch started in the School. This was a
blessing not only to students but to the youngsters who have
been looking for a job after completing studies. In 1991 when Govt decided to stop Pre-degree and start Plus
One and Plus Two course in the schools in Kerala, NNMHS
was first among them. Thus NNMHS became NNMHSS. All
only by the great foresight of Sri. Sankaranarayanan, the
Maanuettan of the people of Chelembra. Thus Maanu Ettan
became the man behind the development of education sector
in Malappuram District, and Kerala as a whole. Now we have 3
Commerce Batchs, 2 Science Batches and One Humanities
Batch with 50 Students intake for each Batches. The school is offering Education in Malayalam and English
Medium Education for students of 8th, 9th, 10th. This is a
great blessing to the parents who are looking for English
Medium Education for their children, as the education in
English Medium Un aided schools are getting more and more
expensive which is unaffordable for middle class. Apart from the academic activities; the school is also giving
importance to extracurricular activities. Every year the
students of the school are bringing laurels in the field of Youth
Festival, Sports, Science and other related exhibitions, games
etc, at different levels. From the academic year 2014-15 the
school also started Football Hostel. And the performance of
our students under the training of Mr. Mansoor Ali, the
Physical Education Trainer, became champion in the state
level and participated in international football match held at
Delhi. Now our students are representing various districts in
different tournaments.
