Today, we unite to protect the endangered queen of the jungle—tigers, a keystone species critical to forest health and global biodiversity.

Tigers once numbered over 100,000 worldwide—now fewer than ~4,500 remain in the wild, with more than 70% found in India alone. 🇮🇳 Their decline—driven by poaching, habitat loss, and human conflict—is alarming, but conservation offers hope.

Created at the 2010 Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit, Global Tiger Day (also called International Tiger Day) is observed every year on July 29 to raise awareness and promote tiger conservation efforts.

In India, Project Tiger has helped increase tiger numbers from around 1,700 (2010) to over 3,600 (2022)—a testament to effective protection and habitat restoration.
