On 14th November, we had the honor of hosting Dr. Maheshreddy Gade, Associate Professor & Associate Dean (Research), School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Mandi, as a distinguished Keynote Speaker.

He delivered an insightful and impactful talk on
🗂️ “Earthquake and Co-seismic Landslide Hazard”,
highlighting the scientific understanding, risk assessment approaches, and mitigation strategies essential for safeguarding vulnerable regions, especially in the Himalayan context.

His expert perspectives on seismic behavior, slope instability, and disaster resilience enriched the conference and inspired researchers, professionals, and policymakers to adopt data-driven and sustainable risk reduction practices.

A vibrant evening that celebrated the rich cultural diversity of India as part of the 2nd International Conference on Natural Hazards and Disaster Management at SMIT.

From soulful songs to traditional folk dances like Nepali, Tibetan, Bihu, Arunachali, and Yak Dance, along with instrumental performances like Sarangi and Musical Ensemble, the night beautifully showcased unity in diversity.
Each performance reflected resilience, heritage, and the spirit of communities—perfectly echoing the conference theme of Culture, Climate, and Resilience.
