V.N Purushothaman Govt.Higher Secondary School The School began in 1869 as an LP School. Classes were held in French medium. V.N. Purushothaman Govt. It has became one of the cultural icons of Mahe. M.Nadarajan.

In 1947 it was upgraded as a middle School and was given the name "Echole Mixed de Palloor". 1962 to 1968,students of this school attended Madras Metriculation exam. Higher Secondary School is one of the oldest and famous school in Mahe. The School began in 1869 as a Lower Primary School. 8, students of this school attended Madras Matriculation Exam. Since 1969, students started attending Kerala SSLC. In SSLC exam, students of this school achieve 100% on the year 1977,1984,1992,2000 and 2011. The school got the trophy of Pondicherry Government for its great success in academy. The school was uplifted as a Higher Secondary School in the year 2001 and followes two streams as Science and Commerce. This School follows non-shift schedule. Classes from 5th to 12th uses both English and Malayalam as the medium of learning. The success in both academic and non-academic made the school greatly reputed among the schools of Maheregion.
